John,
My mom doesn’t seem to be feeling well today, she’s been coughing all morning. She thinks
maybe she’s coming down with that bug that’s been going around. I hope she’ll feel up to going
out on Thursday afternoon while you’re with me.
Larry said that he could stay til 5PM on Mondays instead of 4:30, but he also said that it’s
my decision. I’ll remind you that Carol was able to stay until 5PM when she use to come here on
every Sunday. And he asked me if I wanted him
to bring his photos to show me that he took on his trip to Hawaii, so I then said to him quote
“if you want to.” He then said to me that I could tell him not to if I don’t want to see them,
so I asked my mom after Larry left what she thinks. She thought that they might be interesting
to see because that’s probably someplace I'll never go. And Larry suggested that maybe sometime
him and I could drive to a fish store, he said that he’s driven by Fish World before but he’s
never been inside it.
Before Larry and I went inside after we got back from our walk, he suggested that we bring in
the garbage can and the blue recycling box. I thought that would be a nice thing to do, so I put
the lid on the recycling bin and took it while he brought the garbage can. We just left them
outside the gate that’s around the corner from the garage and Larry noticed that the garbage
can didn’t have a lid. I looked around for it but didn’t see it anywhere, my mom and dad think
that it probably got blown away in all that wind we had yesterday morning. And Larry carries a
water bottle with him just like Carol always brought one when she use to come here, Larry went
back out to his car and got his to bring inside yesterday after we brought the garbage cans
around to the side of the house.
Did you know that Larry’s Honda Fit and his wife’s Honda Civic are both hatchbacks? Even
though hatchbacks are not my preference, remember I told you before that Carol’s last car was a
hatchback...the 2007 Yaris. And Larry told me that before the Honda Fit’, he owned a
Geo/Chevrolet Tracker that had a convertible top. Larry also said don’t buy a Ford Taurus
because it’s not a reliable car. Remember that you and I saw a black one in the parking lot at
Peninsula Village just two days ago.
Remember when you and I went for our walk last Thursday (on February 26th), we saw a
Ford Crown Victoria parked on my street that was covered with snow. That’s the kind of car that
my grandparents had before they got their 1998 Mercury Mystique.
My mom was telling Larry yesterday just before he left about this older couple that she saw
when she was in Willowbrook Mall, they were pushing a shopping cart and they had a little
dachshund riding in it. I then asked my mom if they were allowed to have it with them in the
mall. She said that she thinks you’re not really allowed to, but she notices some people
carrying smaller dogs around with them in the stores
Also yesterday at Willowbrook Mall, my mom found two blue T-shirts when she was in Sears and
you know that it’s not too often when we find blue shirts so she thought that she might as well
get them for me while she saw them. Remember I told you in the E-mail I sent you on
Friday May 30,2008
that Chloe tore a hole in one of my blue T-shirts with her claw and the numbers on the tag in
the back of the neck were “CA#00222” and “item#64814.” One of the two new shirts that my mom
bought yesterday looked to me like it’s the same shade of blue as the one Chloe tore except the
numbers on this new one are “CA#00222” and “item#96635.” And the two new T-shirts don’t have
tags in the back of their necks, instead they have writing in the back of the neck and just a
tag sewn in the bottom. I also said in the May 30th E-mail that I wasn’t sure if I like having a
tag sewn in the side (or in the bottom of the shirt) because it might bug me, but my mom
thinks most of the T-shirts come that way now. And she said that she could cut the tags out, but
even if she cuts them out there might be a spot left that bothers me.
Before my mom and dad went to the River Rock casino two afternoons ago (on Sunday),
they stopped at “The Lighting Warehouse” on Bridgeport Road and for my mom’s birthday present
she got to pick out a new lamp for in the family room beside her chair. Remember I told you in
the E-mail I sent you on Friday Jan.23,2009 that I like the kind of lamps they don’t make
anymore that have the pleated shade? When I saw the new lamp that my mom got for the first time,
I saw that it has a shade and looks a lot like it’s the same shape and style as the older kind
of lamps from back in the 90s but it just didn’t have the pleated shade. And then once I saw the
new lamp turned on after being set up on the small coffee table beside my mom’s chair, I thought
that it looked perfect with the other furniture that’s in that room. Maybe I could take a
picture to send you of the new lamp as well as one of our family room so that you could see if
you agree with me that the lamp looks good in
with its surroundings.
My mom said that you sure weren’t kidding when you said that there wasn’t much rice left, so
yesterday on her way home she stopped at the Peninsula Village Safeway and got me some more rice
from the Chinese food counter to have with my leftover chow mein. She also picked up a carton of
BREYERS TRIPLE CHOCOLATE ice cream when she was at Safeway.
And my dad found out that there’s suppose to be a service for Jim McRae sometime around the
14th of this month. It’s going to be at the “Valley View Funeral Home” on 72nd Avenue.
