John,
Yesterday morning after I checked my E-mail and before my mom phoned you when I talked with
her about you didn’t actually respond to my two previous E-mails though you said that you were
going to, she absentmindedly said that you’re probably enjoying your time off while everyone was
gone. I told her last week that it wasn’t until
today Dianne and the bunch were leaving for
Parksville, how could she not remember that seeing how she knew that you and I were suppose to
drop off Taffy yesterday afternoon? Why would you and I be driving Taffy out there on yesterday
if Dianne wasn’t leaving today and there would be people home at the other house to look after
the other dogs?
And you forgot two minutes after we left
the Macs store what I said I was having for my afternoon snack...I told
you that I was going to have the “Reese's Peanut Butter Cups” I got last Tuesday when I was with
Larry at the Macs store. And I thought about getting a mint AERO bar
on that day, but instead I got a regular AERO bar and the “Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.”
I also told you that last Tuesday was the day when they had the eastbound lanes on 16th
Avenue dug up and traffic was down to only one lane in each direction. Also, a steamroller was
parked that day on Phoenix just South of where they were working. And I didn’t tell you yet
about the big event that happened on last Tuesday August the 11th, Larry and I saw a cat
together for first time. Larry pointed out the cat when he saw it run across in front of us
while we were walking on Blackburn Avenue. Not only it was a big event because Larry and I saw a
cat, but after it ran in front of us across the road Larry saw it go into the front yard where
the monkey puzzle tree is. I didn’t see the cat myself until it was sitting right in front of
the house and I didn’t see it too close because I saw it when I was standing at the other end of
its front yard at the curbside, but I did manage to see it though.
Our dentist’s office phoned here this morning at 10:30 to confirm my mom’s appointment at 5PM
tomorrow. My mom doesn’t know how long she’ll be in the dentist’s office or what time she’ll be
home, so she might either stop and pick up Safeway Chinese food for me on her way home or she’ll
have my dad pick it up just before he comes home at Five.
And then a couple hours later, Jenny phoned my mom at lunch time today and told her that
she’s all excited about going away to Victoria just her and Judy. One of the times when Jenny
phoned us last week, she said that they’ll do some sightseeing over there going to places such
as the “Wax Museum” and the “Royal BC Museum.” And then my dad told her about the bug zoo that
we went to the time when my dad and I took my friend, Mac, over to Victoria.
When my dad talked to my grandpa on the phone two nights ago (on Saturday evening), my
grandpa asked him when they could do the wine. My dad thought maybe wait and do that next
weekend seeing how he knew that the last couple weekends had been quite busy for us.
There was a big accident on the Port Mann Bridge coming home from Port Moody on Saturday with
Michael and Zachary, luckily though it happened in the northbound lanes and was only backing up
traffic heading North. My dad told us that it was backed up well into Guildford. And then when
they were on 152nd and they got near 108th Avenue, they had to stop and let a fire truck pass
them. Because the northbound lanes were backed up, the fire truck was in my dad’s lane and was
heading right towards them.
My mom and dad drove by the new Dairy Queen on 152nd Street near Highway 10 yesterday after
they dropped me off at your place and my mom said that she didn’t see any cars in the parking
lot. Now if it finally opens this week, maybe you and I could go there next Sunday (on
the 23rd) after we walk the dogs. And I’m still hoping that it will have the right kind of
washrooms that I can just walk into without having to ask the staff behind the counter to buzz
me in while I push on the door, otherwise I won’t go to that one again.
My mom read in the Vancouver Sun two days ago (on Saturday) about some of the
businesses that are on Granville Island, and one of them was Lee's Donuts. Larry and I almost
went to Granville Island on Saturday August 8th but we later decided that Granville Island might
be a bit crowded for me on Saturdays.
And earlier today in the afternoon, the city’s bylaw enforcement came to our front door. They
were going around checking if peoples’ dogs are licensed. They also asked my mom if our next
door neighbours’ dog is licensed, so my mom told them that they don’t have a dog either. And my
mom remembers that the bylaw enforcement didn’t come around our area last year at this time, but
she knows that sometimes the city will hire students over the summer to go around and check.
Please write me before Thursday.
