John,
My dad has a four day weekend because he also took today off. He picked up Joey this morning
and took him fishing. Remember I told you that Joey was coming out from Ontario with his mom, my
auntie Ann, for Janice’s wedding tomorrow? Janice’s older brother, my cousin Michael, also came
down for the wedding from Edmonton and he brought the rest of his family down with them. They’ll
be going away camping for a week after the wedding and then my dad might take Michael and his
son, Zachary, fishing on next Saturday (the 15th).
My neighbour, Gary across the street, left yesterday with his wife after their trailer had
been parked for the last few days in front of his house. My dad went over there and talked to
him after Larry left on Tuesday and Gary told my dad that they won’t be back until sometime near
the end of September.
And we found out a couple weeks ago that my uncle Robert’s mom, Dren, might put her cabin at
Young Lake up for sale because she’s too old to look after it. A couple years ago, my uncle
Gordon thought that he might buy it but now he has changed his mind because of the cost and with
things being more complicated because of Indian land claims.
You reminded me yesterday that the Abbotsford Airshow will be on this weekend. Well yesterday
at around 6:45 PM I heard planes flying overhead and then my mom went outside and said that she
could see four jets.
And do you know about the story where a Vancouver man caught the attention of Finnish police
when he assaulted a Coast Mountain bus driver? Finland's police as well as emergency personnel
from many other countries are out here for the World Police and Fire Games.
You asked me if I know about Hiroshima and Nagasaki when you read in the Vancouver Sun about
that yesterday was the 64th anniversary of the Hiroshima bombing. I learned a bit about it when
I studied the novel with my grade ten English class. Now, you also read yesterday in the
Vancouver Sun that the following will be coming to the “River Rock Show Theatre:”
Bill COSBY
PETULA CLARK
THE ROAD HAMMERS
STYX
LEA SALONGA
WANYE BRADY
DR. HOOK FEATURING RAY SAWYER
SHEENA EASTON
LITTLE RIVER BAND
DAVID CASSIDY
CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL
MITCH RYDER AND THE DETROIT WHEELS
BOB SAGET
LISA LAMPANELLI
NEIL SEDAKA
And you asked me if I heard of Creedence Clearwater Revival. My dad has their 1998
compilation CD which is titled “THE BEST OF CCR.”
Jenny thought that you were nice because you understood about her not being able to handle
the MRI. My mom also told me that Jenny said she didn’t know I had talked about her in my
E-mails to you, but she said that it was nice of me so that you’d get to know who she was...just
as long as I didn’t discuss anything with you that was private. Of course I would never do that.
And my mom said to my dad and Jenny that she doesn’t know if she ever wants to eat at the Olive
Garden again because she noticed so many pregnant women there among the staff and the other
customers who were there eating. It’s hard to believe that you would see that many pregnant
women in one place.
Please write me before next Thursday and have a great anniversary!
-Neil
P.S. This is the front cover for my dad’s Creedence Clearwater Revival CD:
