John,
did you get this following E-mail that I sent you on Monday June 22nd titled “Father’s Day and a
few other things?”
John,
Remember I told you that the reason why my dad and uncle planned not to leave for their trip
until tomorrow was because they needed my dad to work downtown today? When my dad phoned home
today at lunch, he said that got changed to tomorrow so now Zoran‘s going to do it. He also said
today when he phoned home that he got up this morning and went outside to find that our garbage
can had been knocked over and there were things all over the place. This was the second time
just within the last few weeks when this had happened. We now know what the crows were up to
when my mom heard them squawking this morning at around 5AM and they wouldn’t shut up. It was
the raccoons that had gotten into our garbage when this happened last week.
So my mom told me yesterday before we left to come to your place that she wasn’t sure whether
Izzy was inside or out and then I completely forgot about this again and didn’t remember to
check for her until after we had our snack. Remember that I checked the backdoor just before I
went into the bathroom after our snacks but she wasn’t there? She was there the second time when
I checked which I think was after I came out of the bathroom just before we started playing
“SORRY.” I also completely forgot about my pills that I normally take everyday right after I
have lunch until I saw just after we had our snack that they were still on the kitchen counter,
so I didn’t get those pills yesterday until 3PM right after I finished my snack and before I
went into the bathroom.
Also yesterday, did you see the red four door hatchback that was parked two cars behind your
van when we were leaving Watershed Park? I wasn’t sure but it looked like maybe it was a four
door version of Carol’s 2007 Toyota Yaris, but Carol’s had only two doors.
And when I asked you yesterday in person if you read in the E-mail about the box of Smarties
that I had for my snack yesterday afternoon, you said that you remember reading it but you
couldn’t remember where I said my mom had got them. She wouldn’t have
got them if she didn’t have to spend $80 at Shoppers Drug Mart to get a free Future Shop gift
card for $20, she got them for me last Thursday when she was at Shoppers to bring her purchase
up to $80. The gift card had to be used before July 9th and I told you that my dad was thinking
he might give the card to Kiernan but we don’t know if there are any Future Shops near where
he lives so instead my dad bought a couple of DVDs for my grandpa
using the card yesterday when they were in Future Shop. My dad took the DVDs over to my uncle
Gordon’s house yesterday after you left and gave them to my grandpa for Father’s Day, my
grandparents were there for supper.
Now my dad got for Father’s Day from my mom and I; Kenny Chesney’s new “Greatest Hits II” CD,
“The
Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor” on DVD, and a new pair of
shorts. I wasn’t with my mom when she bought any of those things, but I was with her when we
bought the card so I’ll pay her a bit extra on my rent cheque at the end of this month to help
her pay for some of the stuff that she picked out for my dad.
Now when I played “SORRY” with Larry on last Tuesday, he decided to switch the colours. Larry
had already got the game out while I was in the bathroom and then I saw when I came out of the
bathroom that he had set it up so that I would be yellow and he got to be red. And Larry
suggested on last Tuesday that sometime when it’s a nice day we should play our games in the
park. He even said that he sees people playing board games in Starbucks and he said that it’s
totally legal, but I think you know that I’m not sure about this idea seeing how I already told
you that I’m also not sure about Larry’s other idea about bringing our snacks to the park and
eating them there instead of having them once we’re back at my place. Last Tuesday on the way to
Crescent Park, we stopped at the “Fieldstone Artisan Breads” that’s on 128th Street and Crescent
Road where he got for himself a big cookie and a poppy seed square. He took his cookie with him
and he ate it as we walked in the park and then he had the poppy seed square back at my place
while I had my snack.
Also just last week when I saw Larry on Tuesday, he said that maybe one day I’ll say to him
that I want to play tennis at the courts that are up the street from me. And then he would say
“okay sure” because he’s got tennis rackets in the trunk of his car, but he knows himself that
this will probably never happen.
And when you were telling me about the new
fellow you just recently started working with who’s name is Brent, I remember you mentioned the
day program “Milieu.” My parents and I looked around there a few years ago when they were just
moving into their new offices and it seemed like a nice place.
Please write me before Thursday.
-Neil
