John,
Larry asked me when he was here yesterday if when he comes next Tuesday we’d go for our walk
first, have our snack, and then drive to Fish World. I just sent him an E-mail saying that I’m
not sure about going back there after I go there with my dad just a few days before (on
this coming Saturday) if I feel up to going out with my dad on Saturday. And Larry said to me in
person that he’s really looking forward to doing it on this coming Tuesday because I told him
that we might go for a snack at Dairy Queen after Fish World, he said that he’ll need an ice
cream or a milkshake because his brain is shutting down after playing too much “Connect Four”
and “SORRY.” And because he hasn’t had an ice cream for a long time, he said that after he goes
to DQ with me he’ll get to tell his wife, Natascha, where he went.
When we went for our walk yesterday, I took Larry clockwise around the red area on the map
that I attached. You know that you and I have been on this walk a few times, but yesterday was
the first time I took Larry. He told me that there’s a trail that goes into the bush off the
North side of 20th Avenue about half a block East of 144th Street. And when we got to that
intersection yesterday, he suggested that we could’ve walked up to that trail yesterday if I
wanted too, but I told him “no” and maybe we could do that another time because I wanted to
stick to the walk that I had already planned for yesterday which again I hadn’t taken Larry on
before.
We brought the garbage can and the blue recycling box around to the side of the house and
left them outside the gate again yesterday when we got back from our walk. And then just as we
were going inside, Larry asked me if I ever walk over and get the mail. I told him that I
haven’t for a long time, so I grabbed the mail key and away we went. I use to always walk back
over and get the mail everyday as soon as I got home from school.
Now while we were on our walk, Larry asked me if I ever mow the lawn or do the vacuuming. You
know that I don’t do those kind of things because they are too noisy. And then he asked me if I
ever set the kitchen table or clean everything out of the dishwasher and then put all the dishes
away after the dishwasher has went through a cycle. I told him that I use to do those things but
not for a long time, and then he asked me why I stopped doing them. He asked me if I stopped
doing them because something happened. I told you in the E-mail I sent you on Sunday February
24th 2008 about the list that I made with the psychologist who I use to see at Able Clinic:
Sunday Feb.24,2008:
> You heard at the meeting last Thursday (the 14th) about the list I made with the
psychologist when I saw him at Able
> Clinic of things that I did regularly and things that I can do but didn't always do
independently...
Larry also asked me yesterday if I ever played soccer or kicked a soccer ball around. I
might’ve kicked a ball around a few times, but I never actually played soccer because it would
be too hard for me to see. He suggested that maybe sometime he could bring a soccer ball and we
could either kick it around my backyard or take it to a park.
And I’m disappointed with your lack in responding to my E-mails lately,
especially at a time when my friend is hurt and was in hospital. I thought that my E-mail I sent
you two days ago (on Monday) titled “Thanks for the surprise” would be worth a response.
Now, we had a call from Kris last night. He’s out of the hospital and when I talked to him last
night he said that he was at his apartment by himself. I thought that he might be staying with
his grandparents for the first while after getting out of the hospital. He’s not able to carry
anything seeing how he’s on crutches, so he had to call his neighbour at 9PM last night to come
over and plug a few things in for him. Kris also said that he’s on lots of medication including
painkillers. And he’s been having lousy sleeps for the last couple nights waking up about every
hour and a half, especially when he had to sleep on those beds at the hospital. And I couldn’t
agree with him more because I know from my own past experiences when I went for day surgeries
that the hospital beds were so uncomfortable that I couldn’t wait to get out of there.
