John,
Remember that the phone rang just before you left
yesterday and then you told me to say goodbye to my mom for you. That
was my cousin, Jenny. My mom might take her
to see Kris tomorrow in the afternoon when Larry’s with me if Kris isn’t out of the hospital
before then.
Also, I phoned my friend, Mac, on Friday to let him know about what happened to Kris. And I
sent a “Get Well Soon” eCard just two days ago (on Saturday) to Kris. If you want to see
it, you can view a copy of the ecard I sent him at
http://www.123greetings.com/send/view/04711209515339033827
I can see that you might have a bit of trouble understanding how we found out about Kris
getting hurt. It is a bit confusing. You know I would’ve told you again in my next E-mail about
how we found out if you didn’t ask me yesterday to tell you who it was anyway even though I said
in the first E-mail who it was. Now, it was my cousin, Jenny, who told us. Kris met Jenny one
time a few years ago because she lives in Langley not far from where Kris’s grandparents live.
How it happened, Jenny phoned us last Thursday evening (April 9th) and asked us for
Kris’s cell phone number because she wanted to get in touch with him. When she tried calling
Kris’s cell phone, his grandma answered and told Jenny that Kris was hit by a car. Jenny then
called us again after she talked to Kris’s grandma to tell us about what happened to Kris. I
also remember that you asked my dad yesterday just before you left which hospital Kris was in
and I also told you in my first E-mail
that he’s in Langley Memorial Hospital.
And when I told you that I had fish and chips for supper last Wednesday (on the 8th),
you asked me if my mom made them from scratch. She didn’t, I told you before that she buys “Mrs.
Friday’s” battered halibut from Costco and “straight cut” fries from the grocery store and then
she just reheats them.
You also asked me which night our Easter dinner was on and then I told you that we had our’s
on the same night you had your’s (on Saturday). My dad stopped at the Safeway in
Aldergrove on Friday on his way back from the valley and got a round double-layer chocolate
Easter cake to have for dessert after our Easter dinner.
My dad saw Izzy sitting in his chair at the kitchen table two afternoons ago (on
Saturday) so he asked her if she was waiting for the turkey dinner. Also, we caught Izbister
chasing a bee in our family room on the afternoon before (on Friday afternoon). A bee had
got inside our house, glad that Izzy didn’t get stung.
When my dad was doing the dishes after supper two days ago (on Saturday night), a
spider came down right beside him. He thinks it must’ve fell down from the potlight that’s above
our kitchen sink.
My mom called me into the family room one day in the middle of last week when they had a
story at the end of the five o’clock news about a dog that fell off the side of a boat in choppy
waters off Australia. She then swam five miles to an island where she survived alone for four
months before being captured and then reunited with her owners.
Also in Australia, did you hear the story about someone wrapped about 100 parked cars with
Saran wrap on April Fool's Day almost two weeks ago? They wrapped the entire body including all
the doors and windows. My mom thought that was a good joke. People had to cut off the Saran wrap
to get in their cars.
vAnd thank you for not doing the April Fool's joke that you thought you might play on me. You
already joke around with me enough, too many jokes just wear me out.
Also in the news:
• Wednesday Apr.8,2009: My mom told me that they had a story on about this
black and white cat who lives somewhere in the States. It likes to prowl around at night and
while it’s doing that it steals clothes...from other peoples’ houses including things like
underwear and work gloves.
• Friday Apr.3,2009: Wayne had the wrong day when he was doing the weather on the five
o’clock news. The “5 Day Forecast” said “tonight” (evening for Friday April 3rd) and then
“Friday, Saturday, Sunday” instead of “Saturday, Sunday, Monday.”
• My mom read in the Vancouver Sun one day last week that they might not have the Bowen
Island Summer Camps for the blind kids this year unless a funding shortfall of $140,000 can be
raised. I was never interested in going to that camp.
• My mom read me this story that was in yesterday’s Province newspaper called “George the cat dropped by bird.”
• My mom also told me that the three-legged dog who was in the paper last Tuesday was also on
that day’s Adopt-A-Pet, it got shot in the back leg and because it hadn’t been treated right
away they had to remove the leg. And on the same Adopt-A-Pet segment (Tuesday
Apr.7,2009), Randene told about the three-legged dog that she adopted. She named it “Eileen”
after Eileen Drever from the SPCA and because the dog leans when it is standing because
it only has three legs (I lean).
In addition to the news I told you about in my previous E-mail (the terrible news
about Kris and the other news about the dog who we thought might be Chewy), my auntie Karen
phoned my dad last Friday evening to wish him a happy birthday and she said that my cousin,
Jeff’s, baby should be due in another week as of that date (Friday the 10th). Please keep
E-mailing me and I’ll respond when the baby comes. And when my dad phoned out to
Karen on the evening of the previous Thursday (April 2nd), she told him that she might
get laid off from her job in three months.
When Brendan phoned us last month to set up his visit with us for this week, my mom assumed
that he knew today (the 13th) is on Easter weekend seeing how not everybody gets Easter
Monday off. It’s a good thing that he changed to Friday (the 17th) seeing how you were
here yesterday \and then Larry should come tomorrow, you know how I get tired easily when
there’s too much going on for too many days in a row. If I don’t feel too tired after having you
here on Thursday and then Brendan on Friday, I’m thinking I might do that fish run with my dad
on Saturday that I was going to do a few weeks ago before I got sick again.
Speaking about the fish, my dad flushed the two kuhli loaches that I told you I had left in
my six gallon tank upstairs. Now there’s nothing living in that tank, and there’s also still
nothing living in the five gallon right now. And my dad said that if my adult mollies have
another batch of babies, then I’ll sure have a ton of little ones.
And thank you for the Easter surprise that you left inside the fridge.
-Neil
