John,

My mom and dad brought back a couple more presents from the valley yesterday and I got to open them after you left, one was from Karen and Robert and the other was from Shelley and Bill. The one from Shelley and Bill was a box of “MILK & DARK CHOCOLATE ASSORTMENT” from Purdys but the one from Karen and Robert was a big box of Lindor (Lindt) chocolates which is a brand that I don’t like. I plan to try a couple chocolates out of the Purdys box tonight for my evening snack.

My dad thought at first that the keychain you gave me was the kind in which you can put a picture inside after you cut it out, he didn’tfind out until after you left that it was a digital one and that it can hold up to 70 images. Remember that I told you I also got a digital picture frame, it’s 15 inches and can hold a maximum of 1GB. And you saw the box of holiday-shaped shortbread cookies that I asked for when I saw them at the Bay, but I also got the little cat wearing a Bay scarf and I haven’t shown you that yet. I also got one calendar myself, a cat one that’s put out by Rachael Hale. And the cat in one of the pictures on the back of the calendar is wearing glasses. I also got two green mouse pads, I really liked the cat gift bag that my mom and dad put the two mouse pads together inside. And I got my gloves, they’re not the same style as the pair that I told you were feeling small on me but they were the only green pair that my mom could find. They have thinsulation lining and my mom said that she got them at Mark's Work Wearhouse.

When you’re here tomorrow afternoon, maybe we could look at the pictures that are in the book titled “kittens in the sun” that I got for Christmas. And the fish book (“ENCYCLOPEDIA of AQUARIUM & PONDFISH” by DAVID ALDERTON) was to both my dad and me.

In addition to all of the presents listed above, my grandparents gave us a maGic BULLET SINGLE SHOT+” which is like a little blender.

I won a total of $7 on the scratches that I got in my stocking, with which my dad got me $2 worth of scratches and $5 cash. My mom was the only one of us who didn’t win anything on her scratches on Christmas Day. Speaking about scratches, I never told you that I won $20 on a maze puzzle of a Holiday Fun scratch that I did one evening a few weeks ago (on the evening of Friday Dec.12,2008). My dad got for me the next day with my winnings, $15 cash and $5 worth of scratches which included a MERRY KISSMAS scratch that had pictures of puppies on it. And I won $6 on the puppy scratch as well as $3 on another “Holiday Fun” which my dad also got for me on the same day with my winnings. Because neither my mom or my dad won a penny and because I had a big win on two nights in a row, my dad said to me quote “from now on when we buy scratches, we’ll give them all to you.”

Remember I already said in the E-mail that I sent you last Tuesday (on the 23rd) that we got a Christmas card in the mail on that day from Kiernan and his mom, Michelle. We also got a card in the mail that same day from my auntie Darlene and her common-law husband, Graham. And inside their card (Darlene and Graham’s) were three “Reindeer Games” scratch-and-win tickets, those ones come in three different games including one where the object is to beat the dealer’s hand (just like the BLACKJACK scratches) and one on which the two numbers that you scratch have to add up to either seven or eleven. We didn’t win anything on these scratches.

On Christmas Eve night my dad’s little 20Q made a sound when mom and I were putting together his stocking, my mom must’ve pressed something and got it working as she was trying to put it into his stocking. My dad luckily didn’t hear the sound, he was downstairs at the time and mom and I were putting together our stockings upstairs.

And now I will tell you about what my cats got in their stockings. I’ll tell you first that Izzy swatted at the back of my foot when I brought her stocking over to her on Christmas morning. And you already know about the dangly mouse toy that can be hung from either a doorknob or the top of a doorway. Izzy seems to like the little white fuzz ball that we put in her stocking because we saw her playing with it lots, it’s nice and light and easy to toss around. One of the other toys that we put inside the cats’ stockings even came with extra catnip that you can put in the toy when the catnip in it gets old. My mom found the right size cat springs one time when she was shopping at Zellers before Christmas, more cat springs for ya. Remember I said that the springs we got for the cats last year were a bit longer and a bit skinnier, and the red ones that are in the package we got for them this year are red-red and not pinky-red. And my mom just put name tags on the cats’ stockings this year, she still didn’t actually sew their names on yet but she plans to later.

There were a couple presents under the tree for my dad and for myself that didn’t have tags on them. My mom, who forgot to put the tags on, had to figure out what they were and who they were for.

My dad got this book for my mom for Christmas titled “HEART and SOUL” by Maeve Binchy. My mom had written down the title and author for my dad when he went shopping for her and he thought at first that this was a CD that she wanted. My dad had the guy at HMV looking through their computer for a while trying to find the CD. After they looked through the computer a bit, my dad said to the guy that this CD my mom’s looking for might be under the easy listening music genre. And then after my dad came out of HMV, he walked by the bookstore and it was as he was walking by the bookstore when the thought came to him that this might be a book and not a CD. He went into the bookstore and sure enough they found it. The people in his carpool had a good laugh when he told them the story, this might’ve been prevented though if I had gone with my dad. If I had felt up to going to Willowbrook Mall with my mom on that day last month (back in November) when I wanted to go, then I might’ve been able to have gone out with my dad one day this month. And I also wish that I could share with Carol about what happened yesterday at Visions when my dad was there picking up my camera, the story about the guy who almost stole a TV.

My dad tried one of your whiskey chocolates this afternoon that you gave him.

Just when we were coming back to my place yesterday after we picked up our Chinese food, I remember that you asked me why my dad’s Subaru was parked on the other side of the driveway. My dad pulled it out of the garage before you came and then parked it in the driveway behind the side of the garage where my mom’s car goes because there was a big pile of snow at the end of the driveway behind where my dad parked the Subaru. You might’ve drove into that pile of snow if you were to turn off of my street and into my mom’s side of the driveway, so that’s why my dad had you park behind the side of the garage where his Subaru goes when you first got to my place.

After they left my auntie Karen’s, my mom and dad took my grandparents out for supper at the “abc Country Restaurant” in Mission. My mom told me that the restaurant wasn't too busy but it was sure slow service to start with.

My mom and dad saw a few cars in ditches yesterday on their way out to the valley. They also saw a few signs knocked over at the intersection of 142nd Street and 16A Avenue when they were leaving, I guess you and I didn’t see those when we drove out that way to pick up our Chinese food.

Now here are some excerpts from the last few previous E-mails I sent you, you said that you skipped over quite a few things because you had this cold and you couldn’t remember these things yesterday once you got to my place:

Tuesday Dec.23,2008:
> My dad talked to my grandpa yesterday morning on the phone and he said that they didn’t get any
> new snow where they are since the last snowfall on Sunday (just two days ago) so my dad
> drove out there this morning and delivered their Christmas present from us...

That one obviously changed after you heard my mom and dad say yesterday that a lot more snow had fallen since the time my dad went out there by himself. And you didn’t remember about my camera, first here is the excerpt from the E-mail that I sent you last Tuesday (on the 23rd) in which I told you about my dad put his camera on my tripod followed by the excerpt from the E-mail I sent you after we found out that my camera was ready:

> My dad set up my tripod by the deck door two days ago (on Sunday morning) and put his camera on it, he then
> took a picture whenever a bird came by. And it doesn’t look too likely now that I will have my Sony camera
> back in time for Christmas
.

Thursday Dec.25,2008:
> My dad phoned Visions yesterday to ask them how much longer my camera will be and they said that
> my camera’s in, just nobody phoned us however long ago when it did come in. My dad already thought
> about stopping by their store in Langley and picking it up on their way to the valley on Saturday so that
> maybe they’ll get some videos of the new baby.

Cat stories:

• Izzy brought us a dead bird this morning.

• I heard a big crash this afternoon in the family room. Izzy knocked over her cat post when she tried to jump up onto it and it almost fell on top of her.

• Thursday Dec.25,2008 - afternoon: Izzy ran off with my new gloves and my mom didn’t know that Izzy had them until after she saw that they weren’t on the coffee table.

The news: My mom told me about the story that was on today’s Noon News about this newborn baby somewhere down in California that weighs 14 pounds two ounces. My mom thought that’s twice the size for a normal baby.

And we didn’t know if you want your basket back that you brought my presents in. If so, you can get it when you’re here tomorrow. And I hope that my mom isn’t coming down with a cold, she was complaining this afternoon that her ear was bugging her and that she’s been blowing her nose lots.

See you tomorrow at 1PM.

-Neil
