John,
It was the Hillman’s wheel rims that my mom and dad dropped off two days ago. They wanted
tires to be put on them so that the Hillman can be rolled out of my dad’s workshop and onto the
truck when the guy comes to pick it up. And this is why they took my dad’s Subaru that day
instead of my mom’s Honda, because the Subaru has a plastic tray in the back and my dad didn’t
want to get the carpet in the Honda dirty.
I did say in my previous message that I got a drink from Orange Julius, here is the excerpt
from that message where I told you about this:
> ...After the Bay, we saw a kiosk of calendars in the mall. They had a whole bunch of cat
ones. We then got for my
> afternoon snack a medium strawberry Julius from Orange
Julius.
Also in the same E-mail, here is what I meant to say:
> ...Also, remember when we were at Dairy Queen
last Thursday we saw a Toyota Camry hybrid in the parking lot that
> was parked next to your Camry and you said about how its windows weren’t quite as high as what
I’d want...
Speaking about DQ, you asked me when we were there on that same day if I knew who was singing
when we heard them playing Michael Jackson’s “The Way You Make Me Feel” on the radio. Remember
that you and I saw the music video for his song “Thriller” on YouTube. And a few days
before (a few days before the day we were at DQ) when I first heard you ask me if I had ever
heard of The Eagles (the band), I thought at first that you were talking about some sports team.
I do know about that band and I have their CD “Hell Freezes Over” which has both the song “Hotel
California” and “Take It Easy” on it. And sometime in another E-mail, I will list as many Billy
Joel songs and Elton John songs that I can think of and then we’ll see which one’s songs I can
remember more of without having to look them up.
I also remember Ann, the nurse, said on the same day at the meeting before you and I went to
DQ about how I wasn’t having a blizzard that time. Remember that I also had a chocolate
milkshake that one other time when we went to that same DQ location in Fleetwood after our FVMH
meeting back in September. Also, I couldn’t drink two milkshakes on the same day seeing how I
have my stomach problems. And don’t forget that I limit myself to no more than two things per
day that have caffeine in them so that I don’t have trouble sleeping on the following night. So
if I had two chocolate milkshakes on that day, then I wouldn’t have been able to have the
Safeway chocolate iced sprinkled donut that my mom and dad got me to have for dessert after my
Chinese supper later on that same day.
Remember that we saw three big poodles two days ago on our walk! When you first pointed them
out and they were coming toward us, I thought that there were only two at first because I
couldn’t see the third one from that far back. And I remember that on the same walk you said
that you were pointing out all these houses that we saw up for sale because you were looking for
me to move into one of them by myself instead of with my parents. You also said that I’d do my
own cooking, laundry, etc, but I want to live with Carol who can do those things for me. Or if I
don’t want to do my own cooking, you said that possibly someone could come do my cooking for me
as well as check in every so often to see how I’m doing living on my own. Now I don’t want to be
by myself when I don’t need things like cooking to be done for me, I’d rather live all the time
in the same place where Carol will live.
I remember last Monday when we met Larry, you talked about the idea of me walking your dogs.
I’m not fussy about that idea. I said to my mom that I would rather wait for us to get our own
dog so that I could see what Izzy would think about having a dog around, I never saw Izzy with a
dog before. My mom then said that we’re too preoccupied right now.
When my mom was looking for ideas about what to get me for Christmas, she told me that she
saw that a lot of the DVDs I like are really cheap and in fullscreen. I haven’t watched the two
Garfield movies yet that my mom got me for my birthday and I told you in the
previous E-mail I sent you on Thursday Oct.16,2008
that I won’t watch them or any other movie until after I watch “the Grinch” with my mom.
And I said in previous E-mails before I sent you that one that there were many times when I had
planned to watch it with my mom including one time just over a year ago at the beginning of
November 2007 until I found out that you were coming for the first time so I then decided that I
wanted to wait until after you started working with me for a month or two so that I wouldn’t
have had too much to get use to at one time. After that month or two was when that big
altercation took place just a few days after Christmas so I decided to put it off even more. I
will especially be putting it off for quite a long time away from now after going through this
Volkswagen thing. And yesterday my mom was looking through the TV Guide at all of the Christmas
shows that were on last night, the Grinch movie with Jim Carrey just had to be one of them
I don’t exactly remember which day my mom was at Costco, but I think it was two weeks ago
when you were with me on Monday Nov.24,2008. Anyway on whichever day she was there, she got my
dad for Christmas
“Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull”
on DVD. And then when she was at Wal-Mart last Monday (on Dec.1,2008), she got a glow in
the dark jigsaw puzzle to give to my dad for Christmas and to put in his stocking she got him a
little handheld computerized game that my cousin, David, talked about called “20Q” (Twenty
Questions) which will ask you to choose a subject and then it will ask you twenty questions
about that subject. And my mom thought that my dad night like the picture that’s on the glow in
the dark jigsaw puzzle. Also when she was there last Monday, she got for the first time some
Wal-Mart coleslaw for me to try. It was okay but I prefer the deli coleslaw that my mom buys
from Safeway and Save-On. And then when I told my mom that I like the other stores’ deli
coleslaw better than Wal-Mart’s was when she told me that what she got me was only one of two
kinds of coleslaw that Wal-Mart has, the other one was something called “Kentucky coleslaw.”
Also when my mom was out last Monday before she had to come home in time for Ray’s visit,
remember she said that the new SUBWAY’s now open over where Wal-Mart is. And then when you heard
me ask her if whether or not it’s a bright location, you then said “aren’t all SUBWAY locations
bright.” I wasn’t referring to the inside lighting, I was referring to the fact that some of
them have a lot more windows than others. Especially the location across 152nd Street from South
Point and the one on the West side of King George just South of 24th Avenue have a lot more
windows than the location I like to go to which is the one that’s in Ocean Park.
I remember that you were having a little “Tic Tac” mint the last couple times when you were
at my place. I use to carry a small pack of green Tic Tacs in my belt pack.
Remember I told you that my mom saw an Elmo Christmas stocking in the flyer for Canadian Tire
just before I sent you my last E-mail on Wednesday. And then not long after I sent the same
E-mail, my mom told me that she saw the story in the Peace Arch about they’re not going to go
ahead with that idea about tearing down Semiahmoo Mall and then putting up apartment high-rises.
Instead, they’re just going to upgrade the mall because the economy isn’t doing very good right
now. Also not long after sending that same E-mail, one of my three angelfish died. And now I
only have two left so I asked my dad if he thought that him and I should go back sometime to the
“Fraser Aquarium” store in Vancouver and get some more, but he thinks that maybe the two I have
left paired off and killed the third one. If my dad is right about this then this means that I
would have one of each gender left so I might hopefully get some babies.
Speaking about the fish, my dad stopped at the little pet store in Metrotown again on his way
home from work last Thursday and before our last visit. They still had some of those mollies
left that he got for me a few weeks before, so he got me two more females and one male so I now
have a total of two males and four females. There should be two or three female mollies to every
male or otherwise the males will fight, and mollies like lots of plants. The tank that’s
upstairs in my bedroom had a whole bunch of plants in it so my dad moved some of those plants
downstairs into the tank that my mollies are in. And remember a couple weeks ago when my dad
bought those other two female mollies for me from that same pet store in Metrotown, they were
$7.88 each. This time the mollies were only $4.88 each, so that’s a good deal. My dad said that
store also had a ton of kitties that same day (just two days ago). And my dad told me
that he looked today in my upstairs fish tank and thinks that I don’t have too many baby mollies
left.
Now points about other things that have been in the newspapers and on the TV news this last
week:
• Remember when you were here a couple days ago, you read me the story about the
police incident that happened almost two years ago at the Cheers Nightclub up on Scott Road. My
cousin David worked at that club a few times when he had his lighting business.
• My mom saw the weather on the TV news and it’s suppose to rain again tomorrow on the day of
the Santa Claus Parade in Vancouver. They said that there might be a few sunny breaks tomorrow
but they didn’t sound too hopeful.
• Yesterday, my mom read me the story that was in the Vancouver Sun about this lady in St.
John's, Newfoundland who got bit by a cat and then she started taking antibiotics and the
antibiotics triggered a reaction where her skin started falling off.
• They had a directory in yesterday’s Peace Arch of all the stores that are going to be in
Grandview Corners. That’s the name of the development on 24th Avenue where Wal-Mart is and where
they’re still building a whole bunch of other stores.
When my dad was sitting in his chair in the family room last night talking to my auntie Karen
on the phone, Izzy was on his lap. She talked to him while she was waiting for her daughter, my
cousin Shelley, to pick her up. They were going to some Christmas parade together. When Shelley
came to the door, Karen said to my dad “I have to go now, I’ll pass you onto Robert.” And then a
second after Robert came on the phone was when Shelley came in the house. And when she came in
the house, Karen and Robert’s Cocker, Buddy, barked so loud that Izzy jumped off of my dad’s
lap.
My dad also told me about when he tried to stretch at three different times while he was in
bed on the night before last night, and when he tried to do so he felt something with claws swat
at him all three times. I remember my mom told me that Izzy spent that night in bed between she
and my dad.
My auntie Karen and uncle Robert just got back from Hawaii and it rained a lot of the time
while they were there. And also when my dad was talking with Robert on the phone last night, he
said that one day on their trip he went out on this big boat that was suppose to take them to an
island where the water’s really clear and it’s a good spot for snorkeling. They had to turn
around and come back before they got to the island because it was raining so hard and the water
was rough. And everybody on the boat was given a seasick bag incase they get sick, and Robert
was almost the only one who didn’t get sick. And Karen and Robert said that they wouldn’t mind
seeing my mom and dad sometime over the Christmas holidays, so my dad then told them that he’s
taking off two weeks at Christmas.
I took a picture of one of the surprises you left for us the last time you were here and you
can see the picture at the bottom of this E-mail. We also found the orange fuzz cat toy on the
back of the phone. And I hope to have my Sony camera back in time for Christmas speaking about
taking pictures.
And I have some stuff to show you on Monday when you’re here. My dad passed a house that he
stopped and took a picture of on his way up to Golden because the house was a style that he
liked. And yesterday, an armband was given out to each employee at where he works. My dad said
that the armband’s suppose to really show up in the dark, so that will be good for safety.
See you on Monday, not Thursday, Monday at
1PM.
-Neil
