John,
Just when my mom was coming into the laundry room from the garage when she got home yesterday
was when the other garage door opened and my dad pulled in. You then heard my dad say a few
minutes later that he has to fly up to Kamloops tomorrow morning, he won’t be gone overnight but
he won’t be home til late at night.
My mom got a shirt and pants set with a dog design (they say “WOOF WOOF” on the seat of the
pants) for Marshall at The Bay yesterday afternoon when she was at Willowbrook Mall and she
bought a matching set of booties to go with them. She also got for him when she was in Sears a
little blue stuffed dog that barks when you squeeze it and also some little toys for in the
bathtub that he can squirt water and blow bubbles with. And to go with the gifts, she got him a
Sesame Street card at “Carlton Cards.” The card has Big Bird, Elmo, and Grover on the front.
Also when my mom was at Willowbrook, she got a money card at Hallmark to give to Jeff and Jen
who will be getting married at the beginning of next month (in August 2008). She thought
that maybe we’d put $100 cash in it. So I said to my mom that if she ends up having to take an
$100 bill out of the bank machine, maybe I could scan it for Rorie before she puts it in the
envelope. And I asked him what he wanted the images for, he said that he collects coins for a
hobby. I said to you in a previous E-mail that you can check out his pics of the Australia
Dollar and the United States Dollar on his website which is at http://www.rorboy1983.com/
If you want to have a look, you can download the Canadian coin images at
http://www.stuntsillusion.com/download/tempfile5.zip
and the other picture of my new baby cousin, Marshall, at
http://www.stuntsillusion.com/download/tempfile1.zip
And how long has it been since the last time when you saw a Canadian $1 bill? We have a
bunch of those and also a bunch of old Canadian $2 bills put away together in an envelope.
And speaking about Sesame Street characters, I finally got around to going onto YouTube and
watching those Count videos again that I watched with you a few months ago so that I could write
out my comments for you, I had a fun time spending the last weekend watching the videos again
and then typing up my comments:
|
[In the above image
is The Count when he made a cameo appearance in a September 2005
episode of “The Simpsons.”] |
Marge admits her
dislike towards
The Count and a clip of him counting coconuts in his castle is
shown on the TV. When the Count laughs (in a scary, ghoulish laugh
instead of his trademark laugh) Marge gets upset and yells, "Go back
to your country!"
And did you read
about all of the
Sesame Street appearances on the Simpsons or about the
13 Kermits yet, John? |

• The Count Sketches - Songs: Count Up To Nine
This video has been removed due to terms of use violation.
• The Count Sketches - Songs: The Batty Bat
This video has been removed due to terms of use violation. And this is one of the videos that I
made my own decision for us to watch as soon as I saw it under the “Related Videos" seeing how I
remember that "this was one of my favorite generic Sesame Street segments of All Time
."
• The Count Sketches - Songs: Bones (Inside Of You)
This video has been removed due to terms of use violation.
Did you notice The Count’s bats flying around him
throughout this video and the skeleton come alive and laughing at the end? I’ll bet you didn’t
know that the word “skeleton” is one of The Count’s favorite words!
Count: “Now when you put all those bones together,
you make them up with something you call a skeleton. Remember that word, it’s one of my
favorites...”v
Also notice that this is one of the videos that
showed that ghost at the very end. Remember that a couple of these showed the ghost, I think it
was the video we watched after this one that for some reason didn’t show the ghost at the end.
• The Count counts flowers:
This video has been removed due to terms of use violation.
• The Count hires Ernie to answer his phone:
Why does The Count bother to hire Ernie to answer the telephone if Count’s not gunna let him
answer it!

The Count: “Oh no you don't, come back here!”
I often felt sorry for that dwarf, as if the count was going to hold him (and the others)
hostage! For just counting, that's alot of banging around!
• The Count goes shopping:
See the message at the beginning that says “the audio we are hearing comes from an LP,” I wonder
if maybe this could be another collage that someone made just like that one Billy Joel music
video that we saw (the Zanzibar one).
And notice the policeman in this video who first shows up immediately after The Count counts the
potatoes.
Count: “You know I like to go shopping, but I love counting so much it’s very hard to get any
shopping done.”
• The Count puts the bite on Miss Piggy:
Remember this was another one that we decided to turn off because it had swearing. I don’t know
if Mac’s figured out YouTube well enough himself by now so that he could go and search for
videos himself that he wants to watch, if not maybe this video would be another one that me,
you, and him could watch if we have him over to watch YouTube videos one afternoon when you’re
here and on which we could also watch those two other videos that we decided to turn off; "Bert
in the bathtub" and "Oscar the Grouch cussing out the Teletubbies."
And by the way, because it almost looked like the
real muppets in this video I wonder if the guys who made this video either belong to a movie
crew and/or own the actual muppets.
• The Count and Harry Belafonte:
Harry: “...I think the island’s sinking.”
Count: “We need to find a bigger island anyway!”
Are there any other islands out there to be found
? Are they stranded? What
will happen if they don’t get off that island soon!
• Song Of The Count:
This video has been removed due to terms of use violation.
• The Count's Rocket Ship:
You’ll know that this is The Count’s rocket ship as soon as you see the bats that are painted on
it!
And did you notice that the other guy in this video,
the one who goes insane in the end, sounds a lot like Bert?
The Count: “One crazy scientist!”
I remember we were talking about Alice Cooper on one of our walks two weeks ago (the
walk we did on Monday July 7,2008), I told you then that the only one of his song titles that I
recognize is “School's Out.” There’s a
video on YouTube
where he sings that song with the muppets, maybe we could watch it before
we start our cropping when you’re here on Thursday.
On my dad’s way home from getting the mail yesterday after you left, he stopped and talked to
our neighbour, Gary, who lives across the street. He said that him and his wife were gunna leave
this morning to go down to Birch Bay for a week and that they don’t want to go away for any
longer than a week right now because even though he finished his chemo he still has lots of
doctor appointments. He also told my dad that Roger who lives next door to him (Gary) is
now back from his trip.
My mom got up this morning and realized she had caught my dad’s cold, I don’t think I told
you already but my dad’s had this high pitched cough for the last couple days. And some of his
coughs that he had over the last few days sound so different and I never heard coughs before
that sound like that, that I’ve been quite often mistaking some of his coughs for other noises.
And when my dad phoned home at lunch today, he told my mom that he had another nosebleed at
work today. The first aid person brought him an icepack to put on his neck.
My mom told me that she saw the story on yesterday’s six o’clock news about the lady in her
apartment in Montreal who woke up in the middle of the night to hear strange noises under her
bed. She got up and looked under her bed to find a python. My mom also told me the story that
was at the top of today’s Noon News about the crane that tipped over on Highway 1 in Surrey
(near the 152nd Street exit) and slowed traffic. And in the nutrition segment on today’s Noon
News, they were talking about a new yogurt drink that DANONE came out with. It’s suppose to be
good for your immune system and for digestion, and my mom thought it might be worth a try
sometime.
My mom saw the story in the Vancouver Sun “Autism in adults finally getting attention” before
you saw it yesterday. She told me that she read in there when she read the story “people who
they use to call eccentric, now they think that they might’ve had autism.” And I can
agree with you that the one line in the story “when people didn't say what they mean” does
describe me. And I’ll remind you that I didn’t hear the whole story myself yet seeing how I told
you that my mom doesn’t read me the autism stories that she finds in the paper.
Yesterday we just found the little fuzz ball between two dog heads on top of our fireplace in
the family room and the Sammy snake toy on top of our deck doors. Also yesterday, I went to
close the sliding door between our dining room and the kitchen just before supper but I couldn’t
get it to slide all the way again, that’s when I found guess which surprise... And we didn’t
notice until today that you also left one of those glow in the dark ping pong balls on top of
our deck doors in the family room. And I forgot to mention in the last E-mail I sent you that
the only one of your last surprises we found before you came yesterday was the brown ribbon
thing inside my mom’s book.
And now I know that your cell phone has text messaging. I wonder, can you also send E-mails
on your cell phone to my E-mail address? And my dad also has vibrate on his cell phone BTW.
See you on Thursday at 1PM, I hope you’ll write me before then.
-Neil

The SPCA’s Kimberly
Hoare
is one of the society’s cat consultants. Hoare, shown here with
Chloe,
helps potential cat owners find the perfect match in cats. |
BTW, my mom said quote “Oh, I
like that kitty.”
PS3. Wouldn’t it be interesting if Miss Piggy was on Sesame Street:
“We take you now to Miss Piggy with another fast-breaking news story!”
And maybe with some kind of little red heart in the bottom-right corner of the above image.
