And there also use to be a McDonald's in that Peninsula Village, but this one closed when the
one we’re going to on Tuesday opened. At first we just had this one in Peninsula and the one on
152nd Street. The one that use to be in Peninsula Village was an express McDonald's location and
didn’t have milkshakes until maybe a few months or a year before they closed, so anytime before
then I wanted a milkshake I would have had to go to the one on 152nd Street.
I don’t think my idea about having my own apartment on top of the Peninsula Village Safeway
is 100% unrealistic... They talked at one time (and they might still do this later on)
about building an apartment tower on top of Semiahmoo Mall. And if they do this, I wonder if it
will be on top of the food court where the A&W and the Orange Julius can be found. Also keep in
mind that the entrance to the Price Smart grocery store is right at the food court. What I’m
saying is that if they go ahead and build this apartment tower on top of Semiahmoo Mall, maybe
someday they will build a tower on top of my Peninsula Village Safeway. All I’m saying is in
general is...it could happen.

Other than it being a big file (4 MB) and your E-mail taking me a long time to receive
because of that, we thought that video was funny.

More about Scratch-and-win tickets
Yesterday afternoon, my dad went out to London Drugs to pick up a few things
including:
-Fruit Mania wine gums for me to have for my snack on Tuesday afternoon when I’m with you.
-and scratch-and-win tickets for everybody.
My dad got me a “Holiday Fun” which I won nothing on. He got my mom one of the new “SCRABBLE”
scratches that they just came out with, she got a word worth $5 that had a blue tile in it. The
blue tile doubled her winning to $10 . And if her word had a red tile in it, the amount would
have tripled to $15. My dad then walked over to the corner store to cash in my mom’s winning
scratch ticket, they were out of “Holiday Fun” scratches so he got me a “GOLDRUSH” and a
“BLACKJACK.” I didn’t win on those either, but he also got my mom another “SCRABBLE” scratch and
she won $3 which is how much the scratch is worth.
My dad went out to the valley this morning and took my grandparents (his parents) out
for breakfast. He picked up some more scratches while he was out. He brought me back a “Holiday
Fun.” I can’t believe that it’s almost the middle of January and quite a few of the stores are
still stocked up on “Holiday Fun” scratches leftover from Christmas. Anyway, I didn’t win
again...I don’t seem to have any luck on these “Holiday Fun” scratches. Now he brought my mom
back a “SCRABBLE” scratch yet again and this time her total winnings came to $6.
My mom:
- $6 on a scratch today.
- $3 on the scratch before the one above.
- $10 on yesterday’s scratch.
-and I told you in a previous E-mail about the $12 she had won on a “Flip-Flop Bingo.”
Look above at all my mom’s luck. Now why can’t I be that lucky winner? I wonder if that
$1,200,000 that I talked about in a few previous E-mails would be enough for Carol to retire
right now:
> 4,000 × 12 = $48,000
>
> 48,000 × 25 = $1 million plus an additional
$200,000
> My mom won $12 on her “Flip-Flop Bingo” scratch the day before yesterday (Sunday the
6th). Why couldn’t I have been the one
> to win that? Just 99,999 more of those and I’d have my $1,200,000 .
I wonder if that $1,200,000 that I can win up to a total of on the “Set for Life” scratches
would be enough for Carol to retire right now. My dad said that he needs to win no more than $2
million to be able to retire himself right now.
The News
Here, I got some news stories for you:
• Did you hear about that bad crash in New Brunswick? My mom came in the other room and told
me about it when she saw this story on the news yesterday. A teenage basketball team was coming
back from one of their games when their big van they were riding in collided with a semi killing
seven teenage boys and the coach’s wife.
• Another story from yesterday’s news that I caught a glimpse of when I popped my head into
the other room, a tribute concert was held for Oscar Peterson who passed away on Sunday
Dec.23,2007 (just a few days before Boxing Day). You probably heard of him, he was a
Canadian jazz legend and I know that jazz is your thing.
More about the next generation of cars
When my mom was watching a show on
TLC
(The Learning Channel) two nights ago, I caught a Mercury commercial that
advertises the first Microsoft-powered car and Mercury is currently the only vehicle manufacturer
that puts this type of car as far as I know. I wonder if Honda will make one someday, or maybe
the next one will be put out by Honda.
I took Carol’s advice
Coincidently after I sent you the last E-mail on Friday, I finally took Carol’s advice the
very next day. I had a really bad gas pain in my stomach and I was in so much pain that I didn’t
want to move or do anything. I said to my mom while I was in that much pain that “I wish Carol
was here with me right now.” Immediately after I said that, my mom then suggested that I put the
cat on my stomach. So my mom heated up the cat for me and then I spent the next while laying
down on the couch holding it over my stomach. I felt much better after that.
What I had for supper the past few nights & More talk about food
There was still even more ham and Safeway salads left after already having some of those
leftover for my supper last Wednesday. My mom cooked up the rest of the ham into a ham-fried
rice (rice with ham and eggs) for my supper last night and I had the rest of the salads with
Shake 'n Bake chicken for supper the night before.
When I saw you last Thursday (the 10th), you thought that both ham and chicken are
suppose to be better for us than burgers and pork. I had a conversation with my mom since then
and she thinks that ham is no better for us than burgers or pork while either chicken or fish
can be better than those things. It’s a good thing anyway that
I don’t like either burgers
or pork.
More about Our Cats
My dad had a few funny stories to tell about our cats yesterday morning before my mom and me
got up:
• Izzy was pawing at the glass on our deck door in the family room like she saw something
outside, so my dad let her out and as soon as he did so he saw two squirrels. One of them was
chasing the other over the fence and behind the second squirrel (the one who was chasing
the first squirrel) was Izzy. But Izzy stopped chasing the second squirrel once both squirrels
got over the fence, Izzy just stopped once she got on the fence. She then just sat on the fence
for a while and watched them.
• Izzy thought she saw something underneath our fireplace and above its hearth in our family
room, she decided to put her paw in that area underneath the fireplace and below the hearth to
check it out and then she put her paw back out in a hurry...it was HOT down there.
Also, I was sitting on the couch in the living room yesterday having my lunch while my
parents were in the kitchen trying to cut one of Chloe’s long toenails. I was in the middle of
eating my lunch when all of a sudden I heard a big meowy scream. I thought that was Izzy at
first, I didn’t know that my parents were trying to cut Chloe’s nail until after I heard the big
loud scream.
Other than my dad’s two stories about Izzy and the story about trying to cut Chloe’s toenail,
Izzy won’t stop going on the coffee tables in our family room. My mom has to keep shooing her
off those because those coffee tables are only a year old and she doesn’t want Izzy to scratch
up the finish.
See you Tues at 10AM.
-Neil
