John,
So we didn’t end up getting a white Christmas.
Thought you might like to see this greeting card that my uncle in Port Coquitlam, the one I
haven’t seen or talked to for many years, E-mailed to my dad and then my dad forwarded it to me.
The card is from an Australian E-CARD site. The link to the card my uncle sent us is
http://www.kenduncan.com/gfc_ausxmas.php .
And the link to the other E-CARDs on that same site:

I got a Future Shop gift card for $25 in the mail yesterday from that same aunt and uncle who
live in Port Coquitlam. Maybe I could put that towards a new stereo sometime in the New Year, I
can’t think of anything else I want to buy at Future Shop right away. I didn’t get anything in
the mail from Carol.
Thank you for the 2008 edition of the black cats calendar and the ICE GRABBERS. Now I can put
the ICE GRABBERS on my shoes and go for a walk in the snow, when it’s
snowing that is. I have the 2007 edition of the same calendar you got me
on my bedroom wall right now beside my computer desk in that room, I also got the 2008 edition
of the “CORAL REEF ALLIANCE” and “Cats & Dogs” calendars this morning. So I now have three
calendars; one for my bedroom, one for my fish room, and I wonder what I’ll do with the third
one. My mom said that she couldn’t find any calendars that had pictures of Fresh Water fish, so
that’s why she got me the “CORAL REEF ALLIANCE” which is a Salt Water edition. I didn’t get any
LP records this morning
unfortunately. My parents
thought for some reason that maybe Billy Joel never had records and he wasn’t around until LPs
were fazed out and cassettes were in, so I had to tell them that Billy Joel’s first music came
out in the early 1970s and they still made records during the 1970s. I also reminded my parents
that I see lots of used copies of autographed Billy Joel records for sale on the internet and
that I saw a Billy Joel record at a garage sale (even though we didn’t buy it) one time
more than ten years ago. I must have a good memory, my parents say that only I would remember
seeing a Billy Joel record at a garage sale that long ago.
Would you like to know what else I did get for Christmas this
morning? I got a big Lighted Building (Whale Point Lighthouse Bed &
Breakfast) for my LEMAX Christmas village that I could maybe show you when you come tomorrow, I
got the Perfect Petzzz black and white sleeping cat with more black than white but more white
than Chloe that I saw at the Potters store on 192nd Street (it comes with batteries that you
can put in and then you can see the cat breathe in and out as it sleeps), I got the
“DOGS24/7” book that I told
you I asked for, I got a big ““DOGS ANNUAL
” magazine with lots of dog and cat pictures that I can scan in and then
print out to put in the dog and cat binders that I’m putting together, a 4GB memory stick that I
can use to transfer data back and forth between my laptop and my desktop computers (I just have
a 2GB stick right now), and of course I got a bunch of edibles; my aunt and uncle (my
dad’s sister and her husband who live in Mission) gave to all three of us a box of Lindt
assorted chocolates, my aunt and uncle (my dad’s brother and his wife who only live a
few blocks away from my friend, Mac, in South Surrey) gave to all three of us a big jar of
cashews, and for more edible presents you can see a
list at the end of this message. You can also see a list at the end of this message of stuff I
got in my stocking, I got me taking everything out of my stocking and opening it all on video.
Also, my grandparents gave to all three of us $60 cash to go out and have a nice dinner sometime
around the beginning of the New Year, all the places where I like to eat would probably be too
crowded for me on New Years Day.
We also got on video when my mom opened the present I bought her from the Christophers store in
Scottsdale Mall that day I went out with my dad, the $40 cat that can open for my mom to put
jewelry in it. I think Carol would have also loved a gift like this if I was still seeing her.
That was $40 and I never spent more than $15 on her at Christmas or her birthday every year, but
remember I have a heart. Anyway, I remember we got the display cat when we went there that day
and I’m not sure whether they had anymore put away somewhere or if that was the only one they
had that day.
That same day when my dad and me went to Christophers, my dad got my mom a little snow globe
that you can wind up and it will play music. The cat was from me. Anyway, we wound up the music
box feature on this globe and I tried taking a short video of it while it was playing but my
mom and me both noticed that every so often while it played the music we thought we could hear
this funny noise. We then showed the globe to my dad and played it for him, he wasn’t sure
whether or not that is the way it’s suppose to sound. You’re the expert, you’re a musician. So
when you come tomorrow maybe we’ll play it for you, you can have a listen and see whether you
think we should take it back and exchange it for another one.
Remember two days ago on last Sunday when my parents got back just before you left, you heard
them say that there was a second accident on Highway 10 near the first one my dad and I drove
away from on Friday? Well an hour later at the top of the 6 O’clock news on Global, they had
breaking news on before they got to their other lead stories and the breaking news story was
about that accident. It had closed Highway 10 between 188th Street and 192nd Street, it was
188th Street that my parents came down on their way home that day and were able to right-turn
from there onto Highway 10. They just wouldn’t allow left-turning from 188th Street onto
Highway 10 at that time. Earlier that same day before you came and before my parents went out,
my mom made a joke and said that if she goes in the pet stores with my dad she could bring home
a new dog that can play with our cats and pee underneath the Christmas tree.
I got even more edibles to tell you about. When my
parents went out that same day, they found everything else I was looking for on my list. They
found my red and green Santa head jujubes and my red, white, and green Christmas jelly beans at
the Price Smart store in Langley near the casino and they also found me two more red and
green sprinkle donuts (one long john and one standard round one again) and their pumpkin
pie at Safeway. Now I got lots of ideas to choose between for my dessert tomorrow after we have
our bagels; ROYAL DANSK Danish cookies, Christmas-holiday shape sugar cookies with red and
green sprinkles left over from the dinner with my friends last week, or like I said before I
could have one of the donuts.
I hope that you and your folks had a great Christmas.
See you at 11AM tomorrow morning.
-Neil
P.S. A few minutes ago just while I was finishing typing the above message, the phone rang
and my dad got up to answer it. Before it rang, he was sitting in the family room working on his jigsaw pizzle. When he came back in the
room a few minutes later, Izzy was sitting in the middle of his puzzle which he left on the floor when he got up to answer the phone. Notice that this shade of green text is brighter than the green I normally use when I type your messages? Remember I told you that I typed the letter I sent to Carol with her Christmas card in green text using Microsoft Word? I used this brighter shade of green that I’m using today when I typed up Carol’s letter and then once I printed it out the green text on the printout looked more like the green text I normally use when I type your messages even though it was the shade I am using right now when I had it on the screen before printing it. My printer seems to print darker than the shade that is actually shown on the screen and if you want to make my printer print in lighter colours you have to go really light. I’m not sure if it’s just my printer or if all printers would be the same, my printer is a Canon i550 colour Bubble Jet printer. And that was my cousin who just phoned when my dad was doing his puzzle, the one who
lives in Langley just a few blocks away from my friend Kris. She said that i
ts snowing at her place, but I hope the snow will be gone tomorrow so my
parents can still go our with my grandparents.
PS2. Here are the lists:
Edible presents:
-a green tin of white and chocolate ROYAL DANSK Danish cookies.
[NOTE: I’m not sure if the white ones are sugar, shortbread, or what they are so my
mom will take a look later and see if it says on the tin what they are made from.]
-Walkers assorted shortbread cookies, these shortbread cookies come in different shapes.
-a bag of small gingerbread men cookies (Bahlsen is the brand).
-a box of Cadbury milk chocolates.
-and TOBLERONE swiss milk chocolate with honey and almond nougat from my friend, Kris.
Edible presents from my friend, Mac:
-a box of fancier-looking assorted chocolates from Purdys.
-and that long present from him is a big long box filled with lots of After Eight
mints (the flat square ones).
Edibles that came in my stocking:
-a Terry’s Chocolate Orange.
-two Mint Melties, one milk chocolate and one dark chocolate one again.
-a Reese peanut butter chocolate Christmas tree.
-a Purdys chocolate Santa (a chocolate Santa from the Purdys store).
-a pack of Christmas LIFESAVERS GUMMIES.
-and a bag of the red and green reindeer gummies.
Ornaments I got this morning and to hang on the Christmas tree next year:
-a black and white cat, like Chloe, wearing a Santa hat.
-a brown dog’s head in the middle of a green Christmas reef.
-the cat in a Christmas stocking with black stripes on the back of its head that I asked for
from the Christophers store in Scottsdale Mall.
-and a glass reindeer from my friend, Mac. My mom put all three of the above ones together
in one bag and put the bag under the tree.
And I also got in my stocking, a little black and white cat like Chloe. If you press on
this one’s tummy with your finger, you can hear it meow. Gund is the brand by the way.
