John,

My mom told me that she saw on the weather tomorrow, Monday, and Tuesday are suppose to be cloudy with a shower on Monday and a chance of sunny breaks for all three days. I hope at least that it will stay cool and we won’t get anymore of that really warm weather for quite a while. On Thursday evening just two days ago when my dad talked to my grandpa on the phone, he said that my great uncle Bob who lives in Penticton told my grandpa that it’s so hot outside his house that you can fry an egg on the sidewalk.

Now because my mom and dad will be attending the baby shower next Sunday which I told you starts at 1:30 PM, they said that they don’t have to be there right when it starts if they drop me off at your place at 1PM to walk the dogs. Or you can come pick me up so that they could leave early and we’d be at your place at One. Please let me know which idea works best for you!

After you left on Thursday when my dad went to get the mail, he stopped and talked with our neighbour, Reg, who was in his garage practicing his putting. They’re the same ones who’s hedge caught fire. Anyway, Reg said that his wife, Lydia’s, memory is getting worse so my dad said to him that they’ll try to make time for he and my mom to visit with them on one of the afternoons when you’re with me.

Also when my dad walked over to get the mail two days ago, he saw that there are now new blinds in every window at Marvin and Marjoree’s house? How could they afford to get new blinds on every window in their house?

The lady who helped my mom pick out her new glasses last Thursday (after my mom had her eye appointment) said that the air conditioning in her car just stopped working so my mom told me later that she assumes she probably wasn’t looking forward to her drive home. Also, I plan to get new glasses myself sometime after I see the ophthalmologist. I’ve been going to Pearle Vision for the last several years, but I went there the last time I got new glasses and they kept phoning us to say that they should be in soon but they kept getting delayed for some reason. Because of that, I had been thinking that this time I might try the LensCrafters at South Point which is where my dad went the last time he needed new glasses. My mom said that she and I would have to go there on a cloudy day if I want to try that store because the South Point LensCrafters has a lot of windows so it can therefore be bright in there if we go on a sunny day. And then also, my mom and dad recently found out that both Pearle Vision and LensCrafters are owned by the same company but we don’t know if this means that LensCrafters would use the same lab that Pearle Vision uses.

As my mom and dad were leaving the casino last Sunday (the casino in Cloverdale on May 31st 2009), they saw a bunch of motorcycles come in. People were directing them over to the track where they were then doing several laps around the track. My mom remembered reading something in the paper about they were doing a ride to raise money for cancer. And then did you hear on the news last Wednesday (on June 3rd) that somebody stole some of the money that they raised?

Points about other stories that have been in the newspaper and on the TV news:

• My mom already told me before you came last Thursday about the massive shopping centre planned for Abbotsford near the intersection of.Mount Lehman and Fraser Highway. And I asked her if it said about any of the stores that would be going in there and she said that there’s rumors about one of those big Wal-Mart SuperCentres like the one in Grandview Heights.

• I asked my mom about that plane crash that happened last Monday off the coast of Brazil after you told me about it. Did you know that they think the plane likely hit a really bad storm causing it to go down?

Thursday June 4,2009: When they had the story on the TV news about the fire near Lillooet and my dad heard them mention the Tyax Lodge, he said that he’s stayed at the Tyax Lodge. He stayed there on a work-related trip sometime not long after I was born when he use to survey. My cousin, Shelley, also stayed there on her honeymoon after she got married to Pontus and then she divorced him a few years later before she met the other guy, Bill, whom she is married to now.

Thursday June 4,2009: My mom called me into the family room when she saw the story come on the five o’clock news about this black-and-white cat in New York who climbed into the wheel well of a car and then survived a 40-mile ride. It was alright afterwards other than having a bit of it’s fur singed from the heat of the car running.

• And I knew for a while that you’ll need a passport to get into the States as of this current month (June 2009). My dad printed out an “ADULT. GENERAL PASSPORT APPLICATION” off the internet one evening a few months ago, he’d been looking into what would be involved to get passports for if he and my mom wanted to go to the States sometime.

Points about meals and snacks:

• Sunday May 31,2009: My mom bought a couple cartons of ice cream when she was at Save-On, WESTERN CLASSICS “Chocolate Madness” flavour and a yogurt one called “Caramel Clusters & Cream.” I wasn’t sure about the “Caramel Clusters & Cream” one seeing how it has chunks of caramel in it so I asked my mom and she said that I could try a spoonful sometime. I had some of the “Chocolate Madness” flavour in a dish with bananas for my evening snack last Thursday (June the 4th).

• Thursday June 4,2009: I had the other regular size piece of cake for my dessert after supper. My mom and dad said that they’ll eat up the four smaller pieces that dad brought home.

• And earlier today for my afternoon snack, I had a few of the Hershey kisses and polar ice chocolates with one of the three “Laura Secord” brand chocolate mints that I got last Christmas (for Christmas 2008).

• Also, my grandpa brought in with him when he came here this morning another tin of those spice raisin cookies that my grandma makes.

Here is what I said about noodle cups in the E-mail that I sent you on Tuesday Feb.5,2008:

> ...It is true that I’m not a big soup-eater though I have the MR. NOODLES brand noodle cups for my lunch some
> days. Sometimes my mom buys the big cases from Costco and you can also buy these individually at the
> grocery store. I only like the chicken flavour, I don’t like beef so therefore you know I wouldn’t like the beef
> flavour...

You asked me if Larry brought his camera with him last Tuesday when we went to Campbell Park and if he took any pictures. Yes, he brought it and he took a few pictures including one of me. And because he shares the camera with his wife, Natascha, this is why he hadn’t downloaded the pictures yet nor has he sent them to me.

Also, I didn’t ask Larry where he’s going away to. All he said was that he’s on vacation the week of June 23rd and also that he’ll be working all summer but he’s on holidays for two weeks in September.

My uncle Robert phoned my dad last night saying that he’s taking two weeks off work pretty quick so he asked my dad if he wanted to maybe go away with him fishing for a couple nights during those two weeks. My dad told him that he’ll think about it over the next few days and that he can book the time off work if he decides to go with him.

And I think that what might’ve been a good thing to take a video of was when we saw all that water on our walk last Thursday while they were flushing the water mains.

See you tomorrow at 1PM.

-Neil
