Message:

John,

They’re still doing work next door at Marvin and Marjoree’s. Today, we’ve been hearing a lot of hammering and sawing and they haven’t stopped all morning. I can still hear them working away now as I sit here writing my message to you. And I don’t know whether they’ll be working there on the weekend, but I sure hope they won’t be.

Yesterday after my dad left to get the mail after you left my place, he came back with the house inspection (energy audit). And my parents didn’t tell me until a couple days after they did the audit that we’ll have to have another audit within the next 18 months to show what improvements we made.

My dad didn’t tell me or my mom until he talked to my grandparents last Thursday evening (on May 21st 2009) that the elevators in their apartment building have been acting up. My grandma got stuck in one of the elevators sometime around three weeks ago, the elevator kept taking her up and down instead of stopping at the floor she wanted go get off and she was stuck in there for an hour until they finally turned the thing off and got her out. Both of my grandparents got stuck earlier in the day on May 21st when they went to use the elevator. Remember I told you in a previous E-mail that they were down to just one elevator for a while because the other one was out for quite a while after my grandparents had told my mom and dad at first that it was only suppose to take a week to fix, my dad told my grandpa on the phone when they talked on May 21st that they should hire a different company seeing how the current one doesn’t seem to be doing a good job looking after their elevators.

The elevators were also acting up when my dad went out there last Sunday morning (the 24th) to see my grandparents. My dad was just approaching the elevator after he got inside their building when the elevator opened just before my dad got there and my grandpa came out. My grandpa had came downstairs to help my dad after he saw my dad from his (my grandpa’s) window getting a box of wine out of his (my dad’s) car. They got back in the elevator to go back up, but when they got off the elevator my grandpa took his keys to open their apartment but the door wouldn’t open. They didn’t realize at first that they had got off at the tenth floor. My grandparents live on the ninth floor.

You asked me yesterday if the cats come out for Larry when he comes here. Well, I don’t think that they’re out for him anymore than they are for you. I don’t know if he remembers what Chloe looks like seeing how he’s saw even less of her than what you saw, and he got to pet Izzy just last Tuesday (the 26th) when he first got here but he didn’t see her again after that. Larry doesn’t seem interested in cats, especially at Fish World just last Tuesday when I tried to point to him five kittens I saw that were in one of the cages at the front of the store and one of those five looked almost exactly the same as Chloe. I think Larry was really interested in that chinchilla that was in another one of the cages at the front of the store.

And remember I told you before that they use to always give me free sample donuts when I went to Krispy Kremes but they haven’t gave me one for a long time. When Larry and I were at Krispy Kremes just last Tuesday, there was nobody in line when we first got there and they took our orders almost immediately. But once we sat down, we saw a few people in line and they were handed out free samples. They didn’t give us free samples when we ordered.

It was that “Aveeno” brand rub-on sunscreen that I showed you yesterday had gotten all over my clothes after I tried it for the first time before you came. After I use to put the Coppertone spray-on lotion on my entire body except for my face, my hands would be greasy for quite a while and that’s why the “Connect Four” instruction booklet got stained. My mom got another thing of the same “Aveeno” sunscreen yesterday afternoon when they were out and she also got a thing of this clear OMBRELLE brand gel stuff that she was going to give to my dad until after I showed her what the “Aveeno” stuff did so she might give the clear stuff to me to try on the next time I need to put on sunscreen even though it’s only SPF30 instead of 50. The Coppertone spray-on lotion and the “Aveeno” sunscreen are both SPF 50.

You can get the pictures that my dad took yesterday at Reifel Bird Sanctuary from

And see how cleverly he renamed all the images so that you can tell what he was trying to take a picture of:

The ZIP file that’s attached to this E-mail just contains the walk that I did with Larry at the Watershed Park, we went clockwise. I think you’ve probably been through that park when you walked the dogs to the Alex Fraser bridge all the way from your house and you walked there along Highway 91 and the railway.

Also, did you look at the pictures that my cousin, Jeff’s, mother-in-law took of the new baby? Get them from the following location and they are put together as a neat little story:

From the E-mail I sent you on Friday May 15,2009:
> My dad forwarded this E-mail to me that he got yesterday from my auntie Karen and uncle Robert with pictures that
> Jen’s mom and dad took of the new baby:

Hello everyone … just a quick e-mail and a few pictures of our new addition. Jennifer and Jeff were great during the delivery and Jacob Riley Allen arrived with all the right parts and good health. He’s a great little guy – hope you enjoy the pictures.

I tried to put them in order as a little story – but 9d.jpg came first (it should be the last picture you open – the rest are in the correct order).

Talk to you soon.

Lois & David – happy new grandparents

And speaking about the new baby, my auntie Karen’s having a shower at her house on Sunday June 14th. They live in Mission. Anyway, the shower starts at 1:30 PM on that day.

I never heard of Archie Comics, but I do remember some of the other well-known comic strips like Garfield, Peanuts, and For Better or For Worse. And my mom told me that she read in the paper last Friday morning (on the 22nd of this month) that a couple of the TV shows I currently watch are getting cancelled, “Everybody Hates Chris” and “Privileged.” My mom also said about they aren’t making as many shows right now and they’re making more reality things because they’re cheaper to make.

Now here are the other stories my mom told me about within the last week that have been in the paper and on the TV news:

• Monday May 25,2009: The new bridge across the Fraser River between Langley and Maple Ridge is suppose to open on June 16th.

• Thursday May 21,2009: The bank accidentally deposited $10 million into the account of a couple in New Zealand who ran a gas station, they have since gone missing and police think they might’ve went to Asia. And my mom said that she wouldn’t want to get caught if she were that couple.

One of the times earlier in the week when my mom was out shopping, she got a box of “GOLDEN OREO” Thinsations “Thin Crisps” for me to try as well as two more boxes of the Pepperidge Farm brand Goldfish crackers; one box of “Original” flavour and one box of “Cheese Trio” and both boxes are the normal size this time. Remember I told you that the Goldfish my mom got last time said “Giant Goldfish” on them? I tried a package of the “GOLDEN OREO” Thinsations today for my afternoon snack, these are white and they’re also caffeine free.

And I don’t know if you ever noticed, but I now haven’t had any platys in my one ten gallon fish tank for a week. Remember that I had seven in there, six of them I bought a little more than a month ago when I went fish shopping with my dad and I still had an older adult one left in there from before. My mom flushed the seventh platy last Thursday (May 21st) after she found it dead and the other six died over the week before that day (Thursday May 14th 2009 - Thursday May 21st). My dad tested the water in all six of my aquariums last week in the afternoon on Monday May 18th, both ten gallons were a bit acidic and so was the six gallon upstairs so he added baking soda to them. All my other tanks were okay. And now that the rest of my adult platys have died after my dad added the baking soda, he isn’t sure if it was the water that killed all of them or if the female beta that I told you we moved to that tank had been bothering them. Also remember that same day last month when I went fish shopping with my dad and bought the six adult platys they threw in two baby platys for free on that same day, but my dad could only see one of them when he went upstairs two Saturdays ago (on May 16th) The other one had probably died sometime before then seeing how we haven’t saw it since before that same Saturday, but the other one has gotten bigger since we brought them home.

See you on Sunday at 1PM.

-Neil
