John,

It’s almost 4:30PM now and it just started snowing again, just a few flakes coming down. I see that last night we already got a bit more snow overnight, and my mom told me that she saw on today’s Noon News that they weren’t predicting anymore snow and it’s still suppose to turn to rain tonight. I’m now use to them predicting no more snow and then later we get more. Hasn’t this been going on long enough now? When will this ever stop? I thought that everybody was fed up with all the snow. When my dad went to get the mail yesterday afternoon, he said that it was nice to stay home because it was below freezing out there and the snow was really crunchy. And this afternoon when my dad was outside taking down the Christmas lights, he looked up the street and saw a big husky dog pulling a little girl in a sled.

My mom and dad brought back two presents on Thursday (just two days ago) from Mac, one for them and one for me. Mac wrapped the present for my mom and dad and then put it in such a big gift bag that my mom said quote, “Mac didn’t have to use such a bag for just one small present.” Now I got from Mac a big long box of ASSORTED CHOCOLATES from Purdys, you should see the size of the box. And Mac got for my mom and dad a box of assorted Lindt chocolates. Remember I said that I don’t like Lindt brand chocolates, well I guess Mac must’ve known which one to get for who. My mom said that now we have so many chocolates that we’ll be putting some of them in the freezer. And my mom and dad aren’t big chocolate eaters so my mom suggested to my dad that he take the big box of Lindt chocolates that my auntie Karen gave us to his work and set them out for everybody.

My mom and dad had the bottle of wine you gave them two days ago after you left. My dad said that the brand is “Wild Horse Canyon.” And he was going to have some pepperoni with your wine, but he said that he should’ve taken a sip of the wine first because the pepperoni was so strong that all he could taste was pepperoni once he took a bite out of it.

While my mom and dad were in the Save-On-Foods store at South Point two afternoons ago doing their grocery shopping, it was when my dad was looking around where the candies are when he found this box of cat-shaped black licorice. He got a box for himself. Now before I tell you what else they got when they were there on that day, I never told you yet about our shopping trip to the South Point Save-On on Tuesday Dec.9,2008 when I went with my mom in the afternoon and got for me lots of Christmas candies from the bulk section. We first stopped at the “Mother Hubards” pet supplies store which is on 152nd Street next to The Pantry and where we found a few of the things that we put in our cats’ stockings. My mom found the new cat springs when she was shopping at Zellers on Monday Dec.15,2008 BTW, the ones that I told you in the December 28th E-mail that we put inside my cats’ stockings. After “Mother Hubards” on December the 9th, we then drove up 152nd to the 7-Eleven convenience store at 24th Avenue where we got for my afternoon snack twenty items from the 5 cent bins including two blue and pink pop bottles. And I also saw that same day (on Tuesday Dec.9,2008) when we were there that for some reason those red marshmellow candies (the ones that you sometimes bring to my place) were in the 25 cent bins, usually they’re in the 5 cent ones. After 7-Eleven, we then drove to the Save-On-Foods store at South Point where we got from the bulk section; red and green Christmas Smarties, red and green Santa head jujubes, Christmas jelly beans (red, white, and green), red and green reindeer gummies, and some chocolate Hershey kisses (all three colours of wrapping; some red, some in silver, and others wrapped in green). And the reindeer gummies are the same ones that I got a small bag of last year (at Christmas 2007) in my stocking, they also sell these in the bulk section at Save-On-Foods (at Christmas time that is). Once we had got everything we wanted from the bulk section, we then walked over to where they had packages of milk chocolate Cadbury Mini Eggs and we got one bag of those for myself. We also got on the same day (on December 9th) from Save-On, two big gingerbread man cookies...one with a Santa head and one with a snowman head. They also had ones that had bear’s heads and they didn’t have any of those big gingerbread Santa head cookies that mom got me last year from Save-On. Back in the present, my mom and dad saw two afternoons ago (January 1st 2009) at Save-On that they still had some of the big gingerbread man cookies leftover from Christmas. This time my mom got me one with a Santa head and one with a bear head, she got me the only bear head one that was left and the rest were all Santas. There weren’t any snowman ones left.

My dad took my digital frame back to Costco yesterday afternoon, the one that I got for Christmas, because he noticed a mark on it when he took it out of the box a few evenings before. He just returned it instead of getting another one because It also had a tinge of red, instead he got me a 15 inch jet black one from Visions. And my dad said that Costco was so busy yesterday afternoon that he had to park all the way at the other end of the parking lot. He also said that after he had paid at Costco and was heading back to his car, it was hard to push a shopping cart through two inches of ice.

Also, when my mom and dad were out while you were with me two afternoons ago, my dad tried to pay his VISA bill at the Royal Bank machine at 152nd Street and 16th Avenue. His VISA card wouldn’t come up on the machine for some reason, so he waited until he went out yesterday afternoon and managed to pay his bill at the Royal Bank branch that’s across 152nd Street from South Point.

We got a flyer yesterday in the mail for a sale at the Big Al's fish store, but it said in the flyer that the sale ended on December 31st. Speaking about fish-related stuff, my dad discovered baby mollies swimming around inside my 38 gallon tank late in the evening last Wednesday (December 31st 2008). For some reason though they were white and not black like their parents, my dad said that the parents might’ve came from litters in which their siblings were different colours.

Stories about the cats:

• Wednesday Dec.31,2008: Izzy gave my dad a bunch of scratches on his hand just before supper and she paid for it...he whacked her.

• Izzy was on the roof of my dad’s workshop yesterday morning, the roof was still covered with snow.

• Yesterday morning when my mom and dad were taking down the Christmas tree, my dad went to remove the skirt that goes around the bottom of the tree and found a pile of throw up. We don’t know how long that’s been there.

• Yesterday in the afternoon when my mom was taking down our Christmas village, Izzy crawled inside the box that the “Whale Point Lighthouse Bed & Breakfast” came in. My dad saw Izzy’s tail sticking out of the box.

• And Izzy killed another bird this afternoon. My mom said quote, “what are we going to do with her.”

Yesterday for my evening snack, I had for the first time one of those "Oatmeal to Go" "OATS & HONEY" bars that were in the box my mom bought a few months ago for me to try. You already know that I like their other flavours which are apple and mixed berry. Before I tried one last night, my mom thought that I might not like the “OATS & HONEY” flavour which she thought was a bit chewier than the other flavours.

My dad talked to my grandpa last night on the phone and he said that my dad’s cousin, Jim McRae, isn’t doing well. He has liver cancer and Is only expected to live for maybe another six months. And he isn’t much older than my uncle Gordon who you know just turned 60 within recent months.

And my dad had a call today from Rod. He’s the guy who bought the Hillman off my dad and he said that they might be able to come by with a tow truck either today or tomorrow. He said that he has the Hillman to pick up here and he has another car to pick up in Burnaby, so my dad said that he must have a lot of cars. Remember I already told you about the eleven Scouts that he has.

I didn’t tell you yet that Rod came down here and picked up some of the parts on the morning of one Sunday last month, I can’t remember whether it was December the 14th 2008 or if it was December 21st. Whichever of those two days it was, my dad got an E-mail after you left here two days before from Rod to let him know that he’d be coming two days later on the Sunday morning. And when Rod was here on that Sunday morning last month, he took some of my dad’s miniature cattails that are in our pond. Rod said that he has a fairly big pond where he lives. My mom asked my dad why he didn’t take all of our cattails so that we could get rid of them, and then my dad said to her because he didn’t have anymore room in his truck.

My dad went on the day before Rod came last month (on the Saturday) and picked up this memory stick from London Drugs to put his Hillman pictures on. And I bet you haven’t seen such a small jump chip. They’re making things smaller and smaller these days, the jump chip that my dad got is smaller than my old 256MB one that I told you I’ve had for a long time. The one that my dad got is 1GB and he said that the biggest size (capacity) memory stick that he saw at London Drugs when he picked up this one was 16GB.

Today while my mom and dad were “spring cleaning” around the house after they put away all of our Christmas stuff, they threw away a pair of walkie-talkies that Dave gave us sometime around a year ago because we couldn’t get them to work very good. Remember that Dave’s the one at my dad’s work who I told you lives in Maple Ridge.

And remember you saw in the video that it looked like my little cousin, Ben, was expecting me to talk back to him through the camera. Even though it’s not that kind of camera, my dad said “wouldn’t it be neat if it were.”

See you on Monday at 1PM.

-Neil
