John,,

That was yet another good day yesterday and I’m glad that all the heavy stuff we needed to discuss is now over with. Those two scratches that I saw on the kitchen table when I was getting my snack ready yesterday afternoon were for me, my dad got them when he walked over to the store last Saturday afternoon after he came home from the airport. They were a “BLACKJACK” and a “GOLDRUSH" but I won nothing on either. I had another one for the Safeway bran muffins of my evening snack last night plus milk to drink with that. I told you for my evening snack the night before I had half of the Easter jelly candies and now there’s enough of those left for just one more snack, maybe either I could have them for my afternoon snack one day when you’re here so that you’ll know what they look like and what I’m talking about when I say “Easter jelly candies” or I could take a picture of them in a bowl to send to you. And I had a couple more of the Shamrock cookies for my dessert after lunch today. When my mom got those out for me today she noticed that there was one broken one in there that I then told her either she or my dad could have, she just gave me two today and I also suggested to her that because there were ten cookies all together in that package either I could have three for dessert on a different day or I could let one of my parents also have a whole one. If we decide for one of my parents to have a whole one, then that will be two less cookies I’ll have to eat up and one less dessert.

My dad found out today that he’ll be leaving for Kamloops on Thursday, he won’t be gone overnight now so he’ll be back the same day. I’m glad to know this hopefully shouldn’t affect my plans to go with him to the fish store on Friday as long as the work doesn’t take longer than expected and he doesn’t get held up once he’s there, and if Fish World will even be open on Good Friday. I would be disappointed if I still couldn’t go with him that day though he did say that if he works on a holiday or a holiday weekend he gets paid triple time.

My mom’s first stop yesterday after she left the house was Semiahmoo Mall. She parked her car at the mall and walked across the street to Shoppers Drug Mart before going to Purdys at the mall. She found my Smarties Mini Eggs at Shoppers, she got me two bags. Those bags are so small that we don’t know if just one of those will be enough for a snack for me or if I should have both when I go to have them. Even if I have both bags for the same snack, my mom said she only got me just the two bags because she knows that I already have enough other Easter stuff. After Shoppers, she went back across to Purdys and got me my half a milk chocolate eggshell filled with foil wrapped chocolate eggs. She then went to the Safeway in Peninsula Village, they didn’t have any Easter cakes out yet. Also from Safeway, she picked up a turkey for Easter dinner, some hot cross buns, and a piece of barbeque salmon that I had for my supper last night with ham-fried rice leftover from the night before. I didn’t know until my mom told me after she got home yesterday that most places only sell hot cross buns at Easter, I didn’t know it was an Easter food. I thought that hot cross buns were a year-round food, my mom also said that a few place do sell them year-round. After Safeway, she went across to London Drugs and saw that they had the same bags of Smarties Mini Eggs. These were the same size as the two she got me from Shoppers and she didn’t see any bigger sizes at London Drugs. She also got some red grapes when she was out yesterday, I don’t mind those for my afternoon snacks once in a while for a change from green grapes just as long as they aren’t the kind of grapes that have seeds in them.

I suggested to my mom after you left that depending on which days he’s available maybe we could have a “combination Easter-Mac’s birthday” dinner for him either next Monday (the 24th) or on Easter Sunday. Either the four of us just my parents, Mac, and myself could have a turkey dinner and then have Easter cake for dessert, or you and I could have Safeway Chinese food for supper on Monday while my parents go out somewhere else for supper and then we’d have the first pieces of Easter cake, or all five of us (me, you, both of my parents, and Mac) could have a Chinese food and pizza supper on Monday or whatever else Mac wants to eat if he doesn’t want pizza. I guess it sounds like Monday’s probably the better day for you instead of Sunday because I remember you told me that you would like to go and see your mom on Easter Sunday. And my mom said that she saw the hours for Safeway when she was there yesterday and they close at 6PM on Easter Sunday, she said that the Chinese food probably won’t be as fresh because they probably don’t have as much demand for Chinese food on Easter Sunday so therefore Monday sounds like the better day if we decide to have Chinese food. If we do decide to have this dinner all five of us, there will just be five of us this time while our table can seat six. Maybe either Mac will feel like going with my dad to pick up the food this time or my dad could go out and get the food by himself while Mac stays here and chats with you and also while I help my mom in the kitchen. My mom said that I should probably call Mac sometime this week and find out if he’s doing any better than he was the last time you saw him because I haven’t talked to him on the phone or saw him in person since before he had his surgery a few days before Christmas. It should maybe be up to Mac which one of my many ideas that I’ve thrown onto the table because he’s the birthday boy, but depending which of the days I had in mind might work better for you and if you decide to do the pizza and Chinese supper you can answer this message before tomorrow so that way I could give Mac a call tomorrow afternoon and find out whether or not Monday’s good for him. Again, the other ideas I had thrown out for Mac’s birthday:

> ...If we decide to take him out for a meal either we could take him to Boston Pizza if just you and I take him or if my
> dad comes with the three of us we could go to one of the Moxie's locations. I’d get natchos either way...

If we decide to do one of the ideas in the above excerpt, it doesn’t necessarily have to be done on Easter weekend. We could do it either on Mac’s actual birthday next Wednesday or we could do it a different day later on that same week and just you and I could still have Chinese food for supper on Monday. I also said in that same message I sent you two days ago that either I could go with my mom one day to one of the card stores and pick out a card for him or we could even try to make one. If we decide that it won’t be too much trouble to make a birthday card for him, I thought that maybe we could try to grab a screenshot from that YouTube video...a screenshot of the dog, the cat, and the rat all three together to print onto the front of the card. Here is what else I said in the last E-mail about making birthday cards and about downloading YouTube videos:

> ...I had hoped to find a birthday card with a picture on the front of Nora playing the piano to give to Carol for her birthday
> last year (May 2007), but I couldn’t find one and we instead got her a birthday card with the picture on the front
> being of a different cat playing piano
. My dad found this website a while back that allows you to download
> YouTube videos directly to your hard drive, but from there the videos download in FLV format. If I was still seeing Carol
> and if I had either an FLV player or some program that would allow me to convert FLV to other formats that I can play
> such as AVI or MPEG, I would’ve liked to grab a screenshot from the Nora video and make my own birthday card with
> the picture of Nora on the front and then give the card to Carol for her birthday this year...I’m sure you could probably
> buy paper for the printer that feels just the same as a real birthday card that you would buy in the stores...

My mom said she’ll check Safeway again when she’s out while you’re with me on Thursday and if they still don’t have any Easter cakes she said that she’d then drive down to the Hillcrest bakery and see if they have anything for Easter cakes. If they do and if there’s more than one cake there that I like to choose from, she said she’d bring me back there sometime so I could pick out one. The only time before Easter I could think of that would be a good time for me to do that with her if you’re gunna be with me on Thursday is if I go with her on Friday after my dad and I get back from the fish store. I told my mom that another option is she could take me seriously about reserving a round double-layer chocolate Easter cake from one of the Safeways like the one in the image that I sent you. I also said to her that if she does this she could if possible order it for the last day when they get shipped before Easter so that we won’t have it sitting around too long if we don’t want to start eating it until either Sunday or Monday.

My mom remembered to phone Serena back this morning, my mom got her answering machine and had to hang up because her throat started bothering her all of a sudden so she took a few sips of coffee before calling the number again and leaving a message the second time. I said to my mom that I don’t want Serena to come this week when she books another visit because you know I already have a lot going on this week and so far next week might not be good either because Mac’s birthday is up in the air right now and we don’t know what we’re doing for him. I then said to my mom that if Serena can’t come until the week after next week, that’s the week of my dentist appointment and then I’d have an excuse to change it because you know that I don’t like too much happening in one week. My mom then asked me, “why not just go get it over with.”

There are a few heavy points:
-When my mom got my pills (my Luvox) out for me before I went to bed last night, she asked me if twenty pills was my new dosage. I then asked her why she said that. She then said that she was just teasing me. I then said to her that I notice it’s not normal for her to tease like that and then she said that she does tease that way lots even though I hardly ever notice her doing so.
-Remember I told you a while back that my cousin, Jenny, wants me to do a slideshow for her. I told you Jenny did say that she's not in a hurry for this to be done, but my mom asked me a few days ago if scanning the pictures that she wants in her slideshow would be something that she (my mom) could do. I told her I’d still scan the pictures...Would this be something that maybe I could do with you?

In the attached ZIP file you can get the latest scanned image that we cropped. Let me know as soon as you downloaded temp files 1, 2, and 3 off my website and then I’ll delete them. I think you saw all of the other images before you came yesterday, you said that you downloaded both ZIP files #2 and 3 and you also saw the images from Aladdin and “The Lion King”...Again, I don’t know which other images you were talking about when you said that you didn’t see them. There were no images attached right to that message in ZIP files. I’ll make this a shorter message so that you’ll hopefully have a few days to get caught up on those links I keep sending you which I put together for you in one spot at the bottom of this message so that you won’t have to go searching through your mail for them, see that I’m good at inserting links into E-mail messages. And this message is now three pages long (not counting the PS). I’ll tell you one thing though, another show that my mom watches, Dancing With the Stars, premiered last night. One of the celebrity contestants who’s on it this season is Penn Jillette from the Penn and Teller duo. I saw Penn and Teller quite often on Hollywood Squares when I use to watch that game show until it got cancelled around mid-2004. Penn’s the one that talks.

And once you look at the Cookie Monster video, why don’t you send me the link to your favorite Sesame Street video on YouTube? Who was your favorite muppet from Sesame Street? To link to your favorite muppet’s page on Muppet Wiki when writing an E-mail in Microsoft Outlook; select the text where you want to insert the hyperlink, right-click your mouse overtop of the text that you selected, choose “Hyperlink...” from the menu that pops up, and then paste the URL to your favorite muppet into the “Address” field and click “OK.” You asked me when you were here yesterday if I knew who the best-known fictional detective was, did you know that there’s a muppet spoof of him on Sesame Street? His name is Sherlock Hemlock and his sidekick, Watson the dog, is a muppet spoof of Dr. John H. Watson (or "Dr. Watson" for short).

A few stories that have been on the news:
-At the end of the six ’clock news on Sunday (the 16th), they said that they were getting snow in some parts of North Vancouver.
-They had a story at the end of yesterday’s Noon News that my mom saw just before you came about a couple that had been married 83 years. The wife is 99 years old and the husband is 101. They have six children, twenty some odd grandchildren, 100 great grandchildren, and a few great-great grandchildren.

I discovered the latest thing you did in our downstairs computer room only a couple hours after you left, you put your boat that you made on the dog’s head. After you put your two ping pong balls back on top of the cat springs, my mom thought they look pretty much the same as they did when I took a picture of them like that. I did take a picture though of what else you did after my mom finally discovered it this morning, she found some grass on the carpet in our downstairs hallway on her way to showing me after she called me to come see. Chloe must have thrown it up after she was outside earlier this morning.

-Neil
