John,

My dad took the Christmas tree out this morning to get chipped, he was the only one there and firemen were standing around waiting. He also went out yesterday afternoon to do some grocery shopping for my mom and that is the time he brought me home a “Holiday Fun” scratch-and-win ticket. The maximum amount you can win on those would be $50,000 and I wasn’t so lucky this first time whereas I won nothing. My dad walked over to the store this afternoon after me not winning on my first scratch and got me three more scratches. He got me another “Holiday Fun” and two $1 scratches, one Gold Rush and one Black Jack. I wasn’t so lucky on the $1 scratches, but this time I won just $3 on the “Holiday Fun.” Instead of $3 cash with my winnings, my dad will probably just take my winning scratch to work with him tomorrow and get me some more scratches.

I had to beat 19 on the Black Jack I did today, if the number I had to beat would have been anything lower than 17 I could have won $21,000 . And on the first “Holiday Fun” I did where I didn’t win anything, if one of the two numbers I had to match on the first game would have been 14 I could have won $50,000 . The third game on the “Holiday Fun” scratches is those mazes with arrows, I liked those big scratches that they use to sell with the maze alone. The maximum prize on the “Set for Life” scratches is “Cash for Life” ($1,000 per week for 25 years). With $1,000 per week for the next 25 years, I wouldn’t have to worry about my benefits of approximately $900 per month for those 25 years. I wouldn’t have to worry about going for a financial review every year and I also wouldn’t have to worry about all the other extra headaches and whatever else is involved with being on disability.

Approximately 4 weeks in one month
52 weeks (or 12 months) in one year

4,000 × 12 = $48,000

48,000 × 25 = $1 million plus an additional $200,000

When my dad went out yesterday afternoon to do that bit of grocery shopping for my mom, one of the things on the list she gave him was “cherry fruit cocktail” and he forgot to get that. That’s the kind of fruit cocktail that I like on my cottage cheese on the days I have cottage cheese and fruit for my lunch, he stopped by the grocery store after taking the tree in this morning and got some so I could have my cottage cheese for lunch today. And today when he was going to walk over to the corner store to get me those three more scratches, he was also suppose to pick up milk at the store and he forgot. It seems like my dad always forgets something when we have him shop for us, even if one of us writes him out a shopping list. My dad is good at forgetting a lot of stuff, it seems like everything that especially I tell him goes in through one ear and then goes back out the other. I know that Carol has to do a whole bunch of grocery shopping for herself and the young guy that lives with her every week, that’s one of the things she has to put up with that takes a lot of time away from herself each week and one of the things that contributes to all the stress that goes on in her life. I wonder if she ever forgets anything on her shopping lists, and if so I wonder how often or if she always forgets at least one thing every time she goes grocery shopping.

I’m glad to hear that you had a great time on your vacation and I’m looking forward to hear about it. We can make tomorrow afternoon’s visit from 1PM to 4:30PM. We can talk about your vacation, have my snack (I think I’ll be having dare juicy jubes with my Ocean’s Spray cranberry juice to drink), and play some games. Think about it overnight whether you would like to play “Connect Four” or “SORRY.” I wish I could play “SORRY” with Carol again and show her what you taught me about cutting the card deck in half after shuffling and then putting the bottom half on top once the deck is cut. Remember I said to you when you first showed me that trick “when Carol shuffles the cards I now know how to avoid me seeing what the number is on the card at the bottom of the deck,” I’ll bet Carol doesn’t know this trick since I don’t see her anymore and she might not have played “SORRY” again since the last time she played it with me.
