John,

I went out with my mom this afternoon to South Point (the mall with Save-On-Foods, Starbucks, and Carlton Cards). We went to Starbucks first and got a $10 gift card to send to Carol then we went to Save-On to get our devil’s food cake mix for making the cupcakes, the Christmas sugar cookies (red and green sprinkled ones) for dessert at supper on Sunday, and Christmas snacks from the bulk section for myself. Today in the bulk section we got red and green Santa jujubes, Christmas jelly beans (red, white, and green), chocolate Hershey kisses (some wrapped in red, some in silver, and others wrapped in green), milk chocolate polar ice chocolates (some wrapped in red, others wrapped in purple, and others wrapped in green), and a few dark-chocolate polar ice chocolates for me to try. My mom had to reach way down to the bottom of the bin to get at the green-wrapped Hershey kisses, all the red and silver ones had to be piled on top. We didn’t find any red and green Christmas smarties or any red and green Cadburry Eggies in Save-On today, so my mom will watch for them when she’s in other stores and see if they have them out this year. Also in Save-On today, we found something we never thought to look for there... A big gingerbread man, a bit bigger than those gingerbread Santas I got last year at that bakery I told you about (the Hillcrest bakery, the only bakery that’s left where I live). I will have this gingerbread man for my dessert at lunch on Thursday and I told my mom that if I like it she can go back to the store sometime before Christmas and get me another one, this way we’ll have a day saved next week and we won’t have to go to that bakery this year. I won’t want to get those gingerbread Santas from the bakery if I can get bigger gingerbread men from the Save-On-Foods. So now that I got an extra day saved, maybe you can come Thursday next week at 1PM and then the next day on Friday the 21st I can go for supper with my parents to Moxies. Here are the next times for you to come if these are okay for you:
Thursday Dec.13,2007 at 1PM
Sunday Dec.16,2007 around 4PM
Monday Dec.17,2007 at 1PM
Thursday Dec.20,2007 at 1PM
and either Saturday Dec.22,2007 or Sunday the 23rd at 1PM
Also, my mom got a reminder in the mail today for her dentist appointment at 11AM on Tuesday Jan.15,2008, so I’ll give you some advance notice and maybe you can come on the Tuesday that week instead of the Monday and we could go out for lunch. We should be back at my place with Kris around 4PM this coming Sunday, so I’ll have you and Mac arrive sometime around then too and then we can have supper around 6PM. My mom said that we will not need to have the news turned on during supper that day.

My dad got yesterday off work and I went out with him. First, we took my orange swords and my three older/bigger angelfish to Fish World at 64th Avenue and Scott Road. The guy there gave me a $5 credit for each of the angels and he gave me five glow light tetras and one salt and pepper corey catfish in exchange for the swords. All he got from me were female swords, for some reason I had all females in this batch of baby swords. My last male died. We then went to White Spot for lunch and we also got while we were there a $25 gift card to give to my grandparents for Christmas. If we had spent $50 there for a gift card, we would have got a free $10 gift card for the new year. You and I could have used it sometime if we had spent that much and got it, but we couldn’t think of anybody else we know who would like a White Spot gift card. After White Spot, we went across the street to Scottsdale Mall. They had one male sword left in the pet store there so I got him. I was hoping to instead get two male swords and two big female black mollies, but I didn’t find any of those yesterday. I also forgot to show you when you were at my place on Sunday a couple days ago, I had another new litter of baby platties. I can show you these when you come on Thurs. I can see well enough to tell that my older batches of platties are a bit bigger than these new ones that you haven’t seen yet, they are also a few weeks older. Anyway, after Scottsdale Mall yesterday we then drove up to the A&B Sound music store on Scott Road at around 80th Avenue where the Delta Shoppers Mall use to be to find that the store had closed out. I was kind of surprised to find that out since this location had only been open a few years, I guess they weren’t doing enough business. I gave you the wrong information on Sunday when I told you which two CDs my mom wanted for Christmas, I had originally told you that Josh Groban had a new one out and Loreena McKennitt had a new one out, I was right about Josh Groban having a new one out but the other CD my mom wanted was Enya’s new CD.

I was looking at the instruction book yesterday for the Catz program and found some bits of information. I put some excerpts from this book at the end of this message. Maybe one day I’ll type up the whole book in large 24pt font using Microsoft Word and then print it out to put away in a binder. See you Thursday at 1PM.

-Neil

P.S. Here are those excerpts from the Catz instruction book:

FEEDING AND WATERING

Your pet needs to eat. Buy the type of food or water you’d like to feed your pet from the store, then select it in your suitcase to give it to your pet. Let your pet finish all of its food or it will soon get hungry again.

Keep track of how much food and water you have, if you run out go to the Petz Store to buy some more.

GROOMING

To shampoo your pet, pick the shampoo you’d like to use from your suitcase. You will be asked if you want to go to the bathtub to wash your pet.

Once you’re in the bathtub, make sure to scrub all over your pet. Your pet is clean when the dirty soap suds turn white.

So this is how we get the cat in the bathtub, now we know what the bathtub is for.

KITCHEN

Feed and water your pet in the kitchen. Make sure your pet stays out of the fridge!

Notice the boombox radio on the table? Click on it to play some music.

LIVING ROOM

Your pet’s bed is here in the living room. Don’t let your pet scratch up the furniture.

TRICKS

Your pet is a fast learner and can be taught all kinds of tricks. Petting your kitten in various ways will sometimes reveal a trick. Try a combination of petting (clicking and rubbing your pet with the mouse), pushing (drawing straight lines on your pet with the mouse), and tapping (single-clicking on your pet with the mouse) to elicit tricks from them.

When your pet does do a trick, an icon will appear over the body. Click the icon to give your pet a voice command. This will teach the pet to associate the trick with that command.

It takes a little practice for your pet to learn tricks well. You can encourage your pet to learn faster by giving it a treat after every trick. You can buy better treats at the store, which will help your pet learn even more quickly.
